Could I use call weaponry to call an improvised weapon? Like lets say a really big rock.

Considering you have to be able to hold it in your hands, even if you could (this is something you have to ask your DM, not us) it probably wouldn't weigh enough to be better than a real weapon.

You can call weapons that you aren't proficient in, but you can't call things that aren't weapons. Think of it like "the powerful emotional stress involved in battle leaves a psychic imprint on weapons, which resonates with the minds of blacksmiths as they forge new weapons, and with the minds of warriors as they prepare for battle. You too can tap into this resonance to locate a weapon in time and space, and call it to you."

Actually forget that. Let's just say that you can, but it's still wrong. Using Call Weaponry to call a potion of cure light wounds under the justification that it can be used as an improvised weapon is just as wrong as using Metamorphosis to turn into an object so massive that you collapses back in on yourself and turn into a black hole. It's as wrong as having a line of 1st level commoners send a letter at light-speed (c-mail?) by having them all ready actions to move the letter 5 feet down the line.

Come to think of it, you might get away with calling boulders if you're a giant or a halfgiant. Boulders would be the traditional weapons of your people.

so I can call nonmagical stuff. which I already thought I couldn't. and if I was able to call boulder I would have to be able to consider it a viable weapon.

So if I had the feat rock hurling from Races of Stone then would this qualify me in your opinions.

I think the question we need to ask is, "Why?"

Why would you call for an improvised weapon when you could just call an actual weapon? One that deals more damage while also being more accurate.

Please take no offense. I do not intend this as attack, but the tone of the question and the follow up reasoning leads me to believe that you're trying to do something you're not intended to do. Trying to transform Call Weaponry into a another power altogether...

I am not trying to change the power. If someone can call a spiked chain that they are not proficient with then why would you not be able to call a big rock which you are also not proficient in. both have weapon statistics.

So what would make a big rock any different from a spiked chain for the purpose of calling a weapon?

It's different if you're trying to call a rock to block a door and not use it as a weapon. It's different when that rock is a stepping stone to reach that which you couldn't before... or is the only reason you don't take damage from the spikes in the floor.

Now... not every DM would frown on this. Some will even reward creative use. Creativity is good!

The problem comes when there's some sort of abuse. Something that starts to break the system.

Were I the DM, and you wanted to call a rock and use it as a weapon, fine... as long as you use it as a weapon. I still don't understand why you aren't calling a real weapon though. That's why I'm asking.

I was going to argue that you *shouldn't* allow calling improvised weapons because i could see how that it could be abused. The one coming to mind is people "calling" intrisically valuable items and selling them for free money. Well looking at the power, anything that leaves your hands for more than 12 seconds instantly poofs, thus making any chance of fraud very very very difficult and unlikely with this power.

The other concern was people calling boulders to block up something like a (trap)door, but since there is no rule saying you cant summon collosal weapons, like say a warhammer or what not, and that you have to hold it there or it will go poof in 2 rounds anyway.. i don't see what the problem is.
