The Warmind prestige class indicates that you use the psychic warrior power list to pick powers. However, it seems to suggest later that your manifester level is based entirely on your warmind class level for those powers you learn under that prestige class, even though they are from the same list. Is this true? If so, are you able to manifest powers learned as a warmind based on your psychic warrior level instead, or vice-versa?

I just don't understand why the manifester level wouldn't stack...is it overpowered? I just figured it was going to work similar to all those spellcasting classes that add a level to an existing class for purposes of spellcasting...but it doesn't seem that way.

It's exactly the same as caster level.

The war mind is not a psychic warrior PrC. It's a nonmanifester's PrC version of the psychic warrior. Any full-base-attack character with Education and Wild Talent (or a psionic race) can easily qualify. The only full-base-attack class that doesn't manifest that automatically gets Knowledge (Psionics), however, is the duskblade, which is in the same boat.

The basics behind this are covered in the FAQ at the top of the forum (although it isn't specific to war mind there).

so you're saying that it is in all intents and purposes a different class, like the same as sorceror and wizard use the same spell list but you obviously can't swap spells or caster levels?...bad example because they are both standard classes, but i think you'll get the point.

Better example: Wizard into Suel Arcanamach or Duskblade into Ur-Priest.

But you're getting the idea.

That having been said, if you wanted to stack Psy War manifesting with War Mind manifesting, I don't think that would break anyone's game. You might want to make the requirements a little more stringent in this case, because there's not much reason for a Psy War NOT to become a War Mind.

I'm thinking about making a Warblade who becomes a War Mind, that Sweeping Attack (whatever it's called) is AMAZING for something you can get at 10th level.
