Pyrokineticist/Cryokineticist questions [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-24-07, 11:22 PM I have a couple questions regarding the Pyrokineticist and Cryokineticist (from Frostburn) classes.

1) Can you use Weapon Afire on your own fire lash?

2) Does an unarmed strike count as a weapon for the purpose of Weapon Afire or Weapon Afrost? Doesn't matter so much until you get the greater versions, unless Weapon Afire/Afrost would stack with Hand Afire or Frozen Fist.

3) If you were somehow able to take levels in both classes (changing alignments or in a game with no alignment), could you use your Frozen Fist and Hand Afire abilities on the same hand, and likewise use Weapon Afrost on your fire lash?

1) I'd be inclined to say yes - neither preclude it, and the firelash can be treated as a normal weapon for feats.

2) No, that would be hand afire. (Same thing, but you get it earlier). I don't think they would stack as weapon afire requires a held weapon. Frost & Fire variants would stack though - different sources.

3) I don't know the cyrokenesist class, but if a PrC has an alignment requirement and you lose the appropriate component(s), you lose the abilities of that PrC. So if one require Lawful (or good) and the other Chaotic (or evil), then no. Similarly if one require any Non-X and the other required X, you would the same problem.

If alignment wasn't an issue, I would say they would stack (Different damage from different sources), but each would require a separate move action to activate.

You would also be advised to take TWF as you could then have two whips out ;)

Not quite. Unless the class has a code of conduct, you don't lose class abilities for losing the prerequisites for the class. You can no longer advance in that class, but you get to keep what you already have.
