Mesiolan 03-27-08, 03:41 AM	My Kinetikist just took the energy current and the solicit psicrystal powers. I intend to move close to the enemy and let my crystal do the blasting. I know that my crystal has only sight of 40’, so we need to be at least that close to the foes. I'm not afraid of melee. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/energyCurrent.htm Some questions: 1) If the primary target of the EC power is slain, does the power pick a new primary target at random? Or do I choose the new primary target? 2) Is an ally in danger – randomly secondary target or even primary target? 3) If no target is in range at my turn, does the power end? Or may my crystal continue concentration while I move into range again? 4) The EC power is resolved during the turn of the crystal, which is also my turn (DM ruling: resolve your familiar/mount/animal companion/summoned monsters during your turn). May I choose to resolve it before or after my moves? Probably have to ask the DM. 5) If the EC power is augmented or if metapsionics are applied, does the increased damage last for the full duration, or only the first round?
Fatalis_902 03-27-08, 06:36 AM	1. The power says randomly, so it chooses a new target randomly. 2. It says foe, so unless your DM is really ean, your allies should be safe. 3. I'm not sure. The power itself, sans Solicit Psicrystal, doesn't allow you more movement than a 5' step each round, but with SP, you can do what ever you like. Presumably it would continue, if more foes were brought within range. 4. Does it matter? It sounds like it resolves at the beginning of the concentrator's turn, which normally wouldn't allow any moves anyway. I'd say you resolve at the start of your turn. 5. The whole power, not just one round. A Maximised, Empowered, Extended Creeping Cold spell lasts the whole spell, yes? Therefore, metapsionics, which you will not be able to apply more than one of anyway, two if you have the Psicrystal Containment feat, would also last the whole time.
Mesiolan 03-27-08, 07:24 AM	Thank you, I just wanted to see a third opinion - I was anticipating the discussion with my DM. My Cle3/Psi3/Theurge6 will use an empowered energy current while wading into melee in full plate and several CLE-buff-spells. Psion TANK-NOVA...:D
CrimsonDeath 03-27-08, 12:20 PM	I'm not sure why you're psicrystals sight range matters. Even if your psicrystal is concentrating on the power, you're still the manifester.
AntiDjinn 03-27-08, 12:33 PM	Solicit Psicrystal simply transfers concentration duties to your pet rock; no other parameters of the power are altered. Any power with Duration: Concentration can be affected. The origin of the power does not change, if you want to do that you need Co-opt Concentration.

Should either the primary or secondary foe fall to less than 0 hit points (or should a target completely evade the effect with a special ability or power), the energy current ’s arc randomly retargets another primary and/or secondary foe while the duration lasts. It appears to only consider targets that you consider to be foes.

In question 2, he asked if his allies were in danger, to which I said, "No, unless your DM is mean." I covered the allies=safe bit, just in response to a different question.
