Okay, I'm new to the forum and D&D really but I'm more than willing to debate things with my boyfreind aka my DM. So here are some things we had questions about. As I'm seeing D&D is alot more stringent with it's rule and wording, unlike say....white wolf's exalted which I think is a little more lax. So here's the questions.

1. Psicrystals: It says the SPEAK one language of the owners choice, understand all language the owner knows but can only speak one. This is a supernatural ability. Okay, the problem is they have telepathic link with their owners, which I'm assuming is more for distance communication rather than regular communicaton where normal speaking would do just fine. Do Psicrystals actually vocalize? The use of the word speak twice in their description leads me to believe they are capable of vocalizing but can also communicate telepathically with owners at first level and other creatures at a distance up to 30 feet at 5th. Also at 5th level, does the psicrystal (and owner) need to know the language of the critter it's talking to, because it just says it can communicate telepathically with any creature with a language but doesn't say which or that it has to be one of the owners' know languages.

2. Chameleon: I understand that to hide you need cover, but chameleon gives you the abilty to turn your skin and other body adornments into the colour of surroundings, including floors and walls. I'm assuming that because they went out of their way to include "floors and walls" that you don't need cover to hide in this case because turning your skin the color of the surroundings is considered having cover. So in essense you could crawl across the top of a lightining rail with chameleon and still be able to hide by blending in. Am I correct?

don't sure about the other, but "it can communicate telepathically with any creature with a language" exactly means that it can communicate as long as that another creature has a language. i.e. animals normally don't jave a language so you can't communicate with them.

Unlike invisibility, you still need concealment to hide when you're using the chameleon power.

If you want something more absolute than chameleon, then try cloud mind. Cloud mind makes it utterly impossible to sense you in any way what-so-ever, but the person you're hiding from gets a will save to resist the effect.

From what I can interpret, Psicrystals can indeed speak, though it can also communicate telepathically after a certain level.

Just as psicrystals are capable of sprouting ectoplasmic legs, they care capable of emitting sound in the pattern of a language.

I would allow you to hide against a wall with chameleon, provided you're not being observed.
