I’ll post this on the psionics board and the magic board. Thanks to the MIC a psionic character has less difficulties creating magic or psionic items. I have questions regarding the item “Mystic Ring of Fire”: +1 to CL for fire spells and 3 charges/day to spend on fire spells for increased damage. a) Can a psion create it? I assume YES (DM veto, depending on campaign), requiring the feats, ML level, and one of the powers “energy X” with area effect (spread, line, cone). b) If he creates it, does it work only for kinetic powers (Ring of Psionic Fire), or does it work for an arcane or divine caster too (transparency rules)? c) If you spend one or more charges, the next fire /lightning spell gets a damage increase. How do you handle that bonus damage? I.e. +2d6 fire damage, used on a “scorching ray”, does each ray deal +2d6, or only one ray? How about a meteorite storm or energy barrage? With a meteorite storm, you could toast your foes with additional +2d6 (x4) damage, with energy barrage with additional +2d6 (x3) damage. d) Kinetic fire damage usually is +1 HP/damage die. Does the ring of fire confer this bonus damage if used on a power which explicitly adds the bonus (not every power does)? e) Is the bonus damage increased by metamagic or –psionic feats? Empower, Twin, Maximize?
