| turalisj07-10-07, 06:40 AM | Since WotC seems to ignore psionics, I think it's time we made a races of the mind ourselves. I mean, they have an entire book on drow. Like we didn't have enough information on them before. What we need: Information on Dromites Information on Elans Information on Manaed Information on Thri-kreen Information on Xeph I'd go into more detail on what we would need, but I'm running on caffine injections right now...... :weep: |
| Bacris07-10-07, 07:29 AM | Since I don't want to get called out for violating CoC, I'll just say such a thing already exists :) At least, one on Elan is available and one on Maenad should be out soon. Xeph, Dromite, and Half-Giant likely next month or September. |
| turalisj07-10-07, 07:44 AM | But that's for Faerun... which I stay away from like the plague (I mean seriously, we don't need gods walking around. That's what we have heroes for.) |
| Bacris07-10-07, 07:52 AM | Not at all what I'm talking about :) do a google search for "Races of the Mind psionics" - 1st or 2nd link. |
| angellis_ater07-10-07, 08:09 AM | For frakks sake - I'll take a stab at violating the CoC since we have a lot of dancing around -> CHECK MY SIG (Dreamscarred Press) Or use this google search link: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Asv-SE%3Aofficial&hs=V1Y&q=%22races+of+the+mind%22+%22dreamscarre d+press%22&btnG=Search |
| MaverickWolf07-10-07, 04:37 PM | However, Thri-kreen ideas are always good, due to them not being OGC. |
| InkBlot07-10-07, 04:43 PM | If you're just looking for fluff, try Thri-Kreen Of Athas. (http://www.amazon.com/Thri-Kreen-Athas-Advanced-Dungeons-Dragons/dp/078690125X) It's a 2nd edition Dark Sun sourcebook that defines thri-kreen in a way that The Illithiad defined illithids. Sure, to run a long term Dark Sun campaign you need "Dragon Kings." And sure, to run a really good cleric you need "Earth, Air, Fire, and Water." And sure, to flesh out the psionics of Athas you need "The Will and the Way." But, the things above are things you need to play a good Dark Sun campaign, "The Thri-kreen of Athas" you should buy simply to treat yourself to the most unique player character race in the AD&D line. With loads of description of the Thri-kreen, that fleshes out their character on any world. "The Thri-Kreen of Athas" is something every DM should have when planning to include Thri-kreen in their campaign. . Sort of like the new "Illithaid," "I Tyrant," or "The Sea Devils." Only with a more neutral creature being described, and without a trilogy of adventures for it. Also available in inexpensive PDF form from RPGNow (http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=1235). They tower above mere human warriors and adventurers. In a savage world, they hunt-and all else is prey. Wandering the sandy wastes and stony barrens under the crimson sun, thri-kreen are the most skilled trackers, the most barbaric gladiators, the most implacable of foes. Mysterious and savage, the mantis people have been a closed book. Until now? Thri-Kreen of Athas enters the world of the nomadic thri-kreen-a world governed by tokchak, the clutchmind, and tikchak, the hunt-mind. From hatching to hunting to coming of age, the secrets of the thri-kreen are at last revealed. From their formidable combat abilities to the subtleties of their psionic powers, their accessory explores every aspect of thri-kreen life. For players, there are new rules and new character kits-offered to Dark Sun game characters fro the first time! A special adventure for thri-kreen characters, The Taste of Fear, is included. Dire events in the unknown North trigger ancient racial memories. What terrors lie in the lost secrets of their past? |

| Nite_shade07-10-07, 10:51 PM | Races of the Mind: Elan is like 1.95, I think, as are the other books. ;) |
| cnahumck07-10-07, 11:43 PM | athas.org should eventually do a something with the Kreen Empire in Darksun, but that is a ways off. |
| Bacris07-10-07, 11:46 PM | Thri-Kreen of Athas, while 2nd Edition, has a LOT of fluff information which easily ports to 3.5, and can be purchased for $5 from RPGNow / DriveThruRPG. Considering how much stuff is in it, I consider that a great price :) |
