Guys, just checking if this works because it sounds too good.
Hyperconscious has a feat called continual power that says you can have a damage dealing ray repeat every round you can maintain concentration as long as you maintain psionic focus.

I've created a kineticist build which uses this along with the permanent focus feat which allows me to use it a moment's notice even if I've expended foucus on something else. Sure you can augment a 6th level power but 22d6 is impressive against a single target even at level 20 especially if it costs nothing for the repeats.

Adds alot of endurance to any psion even if it tends to make your tactics somewhat predictable.

will post a full feat progression later.

1. You concentration can be broken by damage and is limited to the number of rounds equal to your manifester level.

2. It deals 2 less die of damage per use and has a +4 cost.

3. On a successful save the power will deal 3d6 damage (if I remember psionic disintegrate right).

What you say is true but as a 6th level power (normally dealing 22d6) used this way it means that you can deal 20d6 damage round after round (if they don't save) for the 13 or more rounds (about when you'll have enough feats for this and know the power)

save is 16+ ability mod (at least 4 if your int is 18 by now) so about 20.

max out concentration and combinded with a psicrystal adding +3 to the check (my psicrystal is singleminded) should take care of the damage checks
Matamorphosis will give an AC high enough to stop you getting hit at all (eg War Trolls have a massive ac) using a gish build like slayer will get your attack bonus higher and Disintegrate is a touch attack so you'll not likely miss.

so is 20d6 (possible) every round (keeping in mind most combats don't last longer than a few anyway) against a single target worth it for 4 extra pp?

I've been using the above combo very effectively against the BBEG's fodder to great effect (really saves on pp) and keeping my nuking capabilities for the big fight.

It is possible to get the Metamorphosis+metamorphic transfer trick combined with this disintegrate/narrowmind/permenet focus trick+ the power penetration and greater version (for a +2 to your DC on most powers when you expend focus in the same build though it is obviously feat intensive.

Build coming.

The cost of a meta-psionic feat counts toward your manifester level cap.

If would deal 16d6 (with another +3d6 with Overchannel).

In all you might be better off with Energy Ray as it deals half on a save instead of a fixed number.

The problem there is energy ray is a first level power and the description of the continual power feat is that the base non-augmented version is what reapeats over and over and the ray must only have a single target.

is 16d6 a round still worth it?

Opps. :embarrass Just looked it up. 22d6 base so - 2d6 for Continual Power = 20d6 repeating for 15 power points. Yes it would work. Just remember with a save it would deal 3d6. :(

I however suspect you cannot switch target.

Not having the full text of the various stuff, this sounds like a good candidate for Solicit Psicrystal.

Psionic disintegrate deals 5d6 points of damage on a failed save. Energy ray has no save.

Just so's you know.

5d6 (Fort partial) - 2d6 (Continual Power, apparently) = 3d6

Ah. I've never looked at Continual Power. Nevermind.

The problem with psionic disintegrate is that the DC doesn't augment. It's a nice power, but at least wizards and sorcerers have Heighten Spell. Psions and wilders don't even get the option. So at level 20, most characters will make their saves, unless you really put some effort into raising the DC through psionatrices and feats.

:D Checked it as well- yes it is 20d6 a round and no the feat description says nothing about not being able to switch targets.
The way I've been using it is as stated to singly pick off fodder and meat shields (but in particular anyone who looks like having a low fort save)

Does wonders for your pp endurance and the concept of lazily using a 'death ray' repeatedly is just too cool.

Cheers.
