Uh oh. I see Tempest storming his way up. RUN! Run for your lives!

(But just to be fair, I don't think English is his primary language, so go easy, Big T.)

First off, I'd suggest dumping a few more points into dex (points realocated from cha, possibly wis, depending on how you want to run the character), as you likely won't be wearing particularly effective armour (you can usually pull off wearing mithral shirt or lighter, but at that level, you'll be limited by cash, so MW studded leather is likely the best you've got available)

For the love of Psionics.. get Force Screen and a 2nd level offensive power!

These will help you survive and be useful to the party.

If you have the GP, buy power stones for any utility powers eg Identify and Tongues...

For a Bene Gesserit feel, be sure an pick up Suggestion so you can do the cool "voice" effect. The Bene Gesserit had to be able to speak with their subjects (so the language-dependent descriptor is appropriate) who would then act as though anything said was a reasonable course of action.

After picking some key telepathic powers, a dip into psychometabolism would also keep to the theme since BG's appear to have great control over their own physiology (Lady Jessica had been instructed to have a girl, as though this was a choice any of her order could simply make).

You, err, forgot your Psionic Talent when you added up your PP...
Ego Whip's always been a classic 2nd level attack power that lets you take out melee types, but might not fit the flavour. Frankly, Identify's exactly the sort of power you should fork out cash for powerstones of. Other options include Recall Agony, with Brain Lock for level 5+ (Solicit Psicrystal and take as long as you like) being very nice. On the defensive side, Biofeedback both fits the flavour and gives you durability, although Vigour is more PP-efficient when you're not the primary target of enemy attacks (hopefully most of the time). BTW, if you're using Inertial Armor and wearing armor, you're losing lots of efficiency. Entangling Ectoplasm is a very, very useful power, and Decelerate also has nice benefits, as well as lasting longer than EE. Remember, when their movement's impeded, they can't charge, run, or take free 5ft steps. AoO's aplenty for a flanking rogue.

Frankly, Identify's exactly the sort of power you should fork out cash for powerstones of.
Note that a Power Stone of Identify (power level 2 x manifester level 3 x 25gp = 150gp) costs more than a Scroll of Identify (spell level 1 x caster level 1 x 25gp + 100gp materials = 125gp).
Callix

09-03-07, 04:51 PM
The problem with scrolls of Identify is that the psion can't use them. If there's a wizard in the party, chipping in for scrolls of Identify is more efficient. If there isn't, pass around the hat yourself and get some powerstones.

Better still, get a dorje of Identify. Yes, the "per charge" cost is lower for wands and dorjes than for scrolls and stones, respectively. If your DM allows you to buy wands that are less than fully charged, there's really no reason to EVER buy a scroll or power stone of less than 5th level since you might as well buy a 1 charge wand/dorje instead (unless you need the scroll to learn a spell).

At 6th level, you can grab leadership for a 4th level cohort and have him learn identify instead, freeing up your slots for the more adventurous stuff. Your cohort can wash clothing and guard the camp from stray wolves while you and your party goes to kill monsters. Reorganize your and your cohort's powers the way you like them with Psychic Reformation once you hit level 7.

Ok. MW Studded Leather. MW Dasatana if you can get away with it.

Telepath leads to thrallherd leads to fun.

Also look at the mind's eye for telepath varients.

Oh, makes me want to play a Bene Gesserit too. Recall Agony could be reflavored as the gom jabbar trial if it optionally made non-lethal damage. Empathy could represent their experience at reading others... but take too many powers of this flavor and you'll end up useless outside of social situations.

(Actually, lots of mind-affecting powers could be a use of the Voice.)

If you get access to Complete Psionics, you could later use Suggestion, Implanted for good effect too (plant some minions in an enemy fortress). Both the Tleilax and the Bene Gesserit can use those.

I'm rambling because I can't think of better advice than the one already given.

Seems like you added your con bonus 2 times.

Is it an error, or did I miss a feat or homerule used for this character ?

You missed the feat Psionic Body, which gives him two additional HP for each Psionic feat he has (of which he has three: Psionic Body, Psionic Talent, and Psicrystal Affinity).

Ok. MW Studded Leather. MW Dasatana if you can get away with it.

Why Dastana? Does he need to have both hands free? I say MW heavy darkwood shield. +2 to AC. And a mithral chain shirt also has ACP 0 and gives +4 to AC. If you or a party member craft them yourselves, they are within a 2nd lvl characters budget range.
Sagetim

09-05-07, 01:02 PM
actually, mithral chain is within 3rd level party range already, isn't it? 2700/2 = 1350. most expensive starter item can be 50% starting gold, and mithral chain is 1100...or did I misremember the most expensive item rule?

In any case, I don't see why you would want to have imprint stone. I could understand if you're an euler, learn a bunch of powers and imprint them for fun and profit.

Instead of imprint, I'd suggest going for maybe, up the walls, speed of thought, or rapid metabolism. (sure, it may not seem like much, but if you get your ass kicked and the rest of the party does too...well, you'll be able to make the 3 day trek to town and back, be fully healed by the time they're nearly healed, and have some more food, healing items, and supplies for the rest of the group.)

As long as you're talking about Mithral Chain Shirt and not Mithral Chain Mail.

Where's the no more than 50% wealth for one item rule? Must have missed it.

A MW mithral chain shirt is 1100 gp. If you craft it yourself, you only pay 1/3 the price. Even double that is within the 2nd level price range.
Sagetim

09-05-07, 06:07 PM
craft it yourself....hmmm...dc to make masterwork chainshirt: armor base dc 14
Masterwork component dc 20
the fact that you making it out of mithral: add 3 years to crafting time.
yeah....hmmm....

Get Suggestion ASAP. its one of the best 2lvl powers you can get as a telepath and tons of fun.

Psionic Talent seems like a bit of a waste. If you plan on taking allot of the telepath powers you may want to take Psionic Endowment as all your power live and die on the mob not making his save.
The Livewire

Why not both? Except in one issue of Dragon, Dasatana is still a stackable armour bonus. I was thinking MW Dasatana (175) and MW Studded leather (165) is a fair sight cheaper than Mithral Shirt (1100)
hovnarr

OK, was unaware of the dastana specs, but it seems it's yet another +1 AC bonus available to the techy psion.

craft it yourself....hmmm...dc to make masterwork chainshirt: armor base dc 14
Masterwork component dc 20

You can take 10 and probably have an 18 starting int. Your psicrystal can assist you for a +2 bonus. Just add the 4 level ranks in craft and you'll fly by that DC 20 check.

the fact that you making it out of mithral: add 3 years to crafting time.

Where is this from? Btw, I usually don't take time into account since I allow crafting items before you start the game (if you have the ranks/feats for it) to make the most of your gold. But other DMs may force you to actually do it in game.

Probably a back-of-the-napkin calculation based on the description of the Craft skill from the PHB.

But as such it is baseless. DC 20 and passing that check just barely while taking 10 means weakly progress in silver pieces is 20x20=400 sp. The item is worth 11,000 sp. This means it would take 28 weeks to complete. Still a lot of time if you consider it necessary down time in the middle of a campaign, but it's irrelevant if you just craft it before you begin.

In that case, it was a wild guess. (Unless you're taking 20?)
