Schism gives you the extra mental action.
Do an Aid Another.
I'm guessing you use your own skill mods, and it's not like the extra mind is threatened, so maybe also take 10.
Might get a +2 or +4 or even a +6 on some mental skills.

What skills do you think this would apply to ??

Well, Jump, obviously. "I am pushing you forward with my mind!"

Maybe Intimidate. "Can you hear my second mind screaming at you?!" That would freak anybody.

autohypnosis, and possibly concentration; if you can do the concentration to get psionically focused you can then expend it on something like mental leap or inquisitor

Thanks for the replies, "guys".
{ ... cause you know that I don't know whether your screen persona is xx, xy, x? or something ... else ... }

On further review, I think any Int, Wis, or Cha skill could have this happen.
And the physical stat based skills, I'd give a 'maybe' bonus on a case by case basis.
Like jump - better body control, swim - read currents better, climb - find handholds faster.
But jump to activate a feat - no , swim to avoid drowning - no , climb still loses AC , etc.

A 4th level power(spell) providing a switchable 1st level power - skill boost ... this doesn't seem overpowered to me.

Just about any skill really ;) "Bluff, bluff, bluff the stupid ogre" (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0004.html)

Having the second mind make a spot or listen check can be a lifesaver. How many times have you had a character shanked because you failed to notice something? The same applies to sense motive. Physical skills not so much; the secondary mind has no control over the body.

If the second mind can't move the body, that would put a serious penalty on Spot checks, as you couldn't move your eyes and head. Unless you're trying to Spot the hidden sailboat in the painting. Listen wouldn't be impaired, though. Now, if you had Touchsight or Ubiquitous Vision, you'd be in business. The second mind would act like Navi, "Hey! Look! Listen!"

Social skills could be used if you had telepathy, which your second mind should share. Sleight of Hand becomes easier with distracting background noise. Bluff would be the big one, and that could facilitate other checks on your part, like Hide.

Having the second mind make a spot check would assume the primary is doing the same. Only the primary needs to be looking around to have two minds analyzing the incoming data.

@ Suldarr'essalar : funny !

Effectively, the schism allows a re-roll on mental skill checks.
This is a U-shaped curve ~worth +1 on 1s and 20s, +4 on 5s and 15s, and +5 on 10s.
Aid Another is worth maybe +2 in threatening situations, or take 10 = auto +2 in non-threatening situations.

I thought AA scaled like the synergy bonuses, but it seems it doesn't.

So when should a Skill Monkey take Schism just for skill checks, as soon as possible ?!
