siegfried1 05-02-07, 01:41 AM	Hi, one more question for clarification: Let's say my psion has a share pain power active the whole day with his comrade the cleric, so the clreic takes half his damage when the psion is hit. What happens when the psio is ambushed by an ogre and the psion uses share pain forced on that ogre as well? a) Only one of the powers work. The first one. b) Only one of the powers work. The last one. c) The psion gets 0% damage, the cleric 50% and the ogre 50%. d) The psion gets 25% damage, the cleric 50%, the ogre 25% e) anything else? :confused:

Is there a general rule about this somewhere? :confused: I looked at "Combining Magical Effects" in the PHB and "Combining Magical and Psionic Effects" in the XPH. The closest example I could find was a character who is first subjected to a Geas/Quest spell, and is later subjected to a Charm person spell. The Charmed character is still Charmed, but he generally cannot be convinced to abandon the objective of the Geas/Quest-- so both spells still obviously function. The next clue came from the character who was Polymorphed into a series of different creatures-- only the last shape mattered. This means either that the last effect received is dominant, or the last effect received simply takes place last... In the case of multiple ongoing effects like Share Pain that were created by the same character, I'd allow the character who created them to decide what order they occurred. But then, that might be because of my background in M:tG.

The amount of damage not taken by you is taken by the subject. and As share pain, except as noted here. You attempt to force the sharing of your wounds with an unwilling creature, and for less time. If you are immune to the type of damage dealt, or if you convert lethal damage into nonlethal damage, the target takes no damage. So, the ogre deals damage to you. Both powers trigger simultaneously on damage dealt. You take 50% of the damage due to share pain, and the cleric takes 50%. You take 50% of the damage due to share pain, forced, and the ogre takes 50%. You may wish to look up damage dealt and damage taken in the PHB. The net result is that you take 100% of the damage and the cleric and ogre both take 50%. Based on the rounding rules, you may take 100% -2 points of damage, and the cleric and ogre take 50% +1 point of damage if the original damage dealt is odd.
