Share Powers also with Spells? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Hi All.

I am playing a Psychic Theurge. My question is relating to my psicrystal Share Powers ability.

Share Powers (Su): At the owner’s option, he can have any power (but not any psi-like ability) he manifests on himself also affect his psicrystal. The psicrystal must be within 5 feet of him at the time of the manifestation to receive the benefit. If the power has a duration other than instantaneous, it stops affecting the psicrystal if it moves farther than 5 feet away, and will not affect the psicrystal again, even if it returns to its owner before the duration expires.

Additionally, the owner can manifest a power with a target of “You” on his psicrystal (as a touch range power) instead of on himself. The owner and psicrystal cannot share powers if the powers normally do not affect creatures of the psicrystal’s type (construct).

1) Would any of my divine spells affect my crystal if we were using full magic-psionic transparency?

2) Can I cast spells that have a target of "you" onto my psicrystal?

Sorry if this is a repeat query but I just wanted to know other people's opinions. Thanks! :)

The problem i see is that the ability is Powers specific, so even with magic/psionic transparency it would still only apply to your psionic powers.

You should ask your DM though. He may Rule 0 this for you.

Thanks LK.

If I was DMing I thought it crossed over with Psi-Magic Transparency and would allow it. But it would be interesting to see if there are any issues in-game that other people have experienced.

I'd also like to know the answer to this one... any ideas anyone?

A priori, the answer is no. As a DM, I'd allow it as long as it isn't abused.

Ok thanks.

But it's okay to abuse it if I was a Mystic Theurge? All my divine spells can affect my Wizard familiar?

And can deliver all touch spells?

Psionics just got the economy seat on the transparency flight. ;)

I would be inclined to allow it for a psychic theurge; the point of the PrC is that you are developing your faith and your mental powers equally and are supposed to be making the two work together. Presumably, you practice a religion that favors mentalism, so your deity or other higher authority would want your pet rock to share your benefits. Just remember that it remains a construct, so self-buffs that work via morale or necromantic effects won't function on a psicrystal, shared or not.

AntiDjinn, that's a nice example.

Too bad some people are getting caught up by semantics.
