When wearing the Psychoactive Skin, Skin of the Proteus one is "continually [effected] as the metamorphosis power."

Q: Does this mean that I can change form each round?

Q: If I can change form each round does this mean I "regain lost hit points as if you had rested for a night" each round?

Thanks,
Necky

If not, how else would it work? Your question is the simplest way for it to work.

Considering the price difference between this and, for example, the graft that gives fast healing 2 from Lords of Madness.. It's not priced as if this was intended.

I see what you are saying but with the Skin of Proteus for any healing to take place it would require consciousness and a standard action. So if the healing aspect of this item works as I'm suggesting it is nice but not nearly as affective in-combat as real fast healing or regeneration.

There's probably just no better examples in pricing because 'heal yourself at will as a standard action for X hp (where X > 0)' is not a typical item ability. :D
Also, fast healing requires you to be at 0hp or more like normal healing does, doesn't it?

A1: Yes, if you use a standard action to change.
A2: Yes, if you use a standard action to change.

The Skin of Proteus is so expensive that it doesn't seem overpowered. There's a character (a tiefling egoist) in the Core Coliseum who has a Skin of Proteus (self-crafted) and the feat Rapid Metabolism. It combines for some fairly decent healing (in addition to using Metamorphic Transfer to get an Avoral's Lay on Hands ability).

Q1: I don't think so - Metamorphosis (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/metamorphosis.htm) doesn't actually say you can change once per round (I might have missed it though) - as Gtr Metamorphosis (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/metamorphosisGreater.htm) or various other shape change spells do (or don't).

Q2: As per Q1, not directly. However, you could just take the skin off / put on constantly and achieve a slightly slower variant of the effect. Or use another skin and cycle between the two. (In which case, pack empathic transfer :P)

A "sane" DM might allow you to change at will, but would only gain hp on the initial chance per equipping of the skin.

I think that in order to gain the benefit of a new form you would have to spend one standard action deactivating the skin and another reactivating it.

As it grants the metamorphosis continuously instead of actually manifesting the power on you I dont believe that any hp are healed through changing.
