I was wondering if anyone happened to have the PCGen data for the Society Mind? I don't want to reinvent the wheel :)

or heck ANY Psionic data for PCGen would be helpful as well! :D

I've fiddled with it. Mostly just adding the things that I need right now for the campaing I'm playing in. So far, that hasn't included the Society Mind. I might get there eventually, but it would be awesome if someone has already done it.

haha, yeah It would be nice if dreamscarred press made PCGen data for all the classes they have, I'd pay for them just because it makes my life that much easier :D

Maybe in the future more publishers will produce data for PCGen...

If someone can link me examples of how to set up the data set, I could probably do it :)

I think this is what you might need first: download (http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/03_get_pcgen.php#stable)

And the documentation:docs (http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/autobuilds/pcgen-docs/)

you can open the pre-made classes in PCGen and then edited them.. it seems daunting though.

I;ll try to be as much help as possible, just ask.

If it's OGL or free for download I'll be able to code it up and anything else you might need for it. Just drop me a pm

Society Mind: download (http://dreamscarredpress.com/main/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=7&category_id=1&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=29)

and the Sangehirn (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040625c) [PrC]

Can I add the PsyRogue (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040723b) to the wish list?

Thanks a ton!

Keep in mind the Sangehirn and Psychic Rogue are not Open Content. Distributing them without permission is technically copyright violation. :)

But I did download it legally from their website! I just don't want to have to code it up myself.

I didn't originally consider your point, Bacris, because I assumed that anyone wanting to use the Sangehirn and Psychic Rogue classes would go ahead and download or print off said classes from the Wizards website at some point. Kinda like having a friend burn a backup copy for me of a CD that I already own. I suppose that, technically, there could be legal issues. Thanks for the warning.

:) It's one of those slippery slopes. Just didn't want anyone to start distributing those data sets for PCGen and end up in an actionable position. I don't think WotC would actually sue over it, but hey, an ounce of prevention, a pound of medicine, and all that. :)

I doubt they'd sue over it. They might ban your forum account over it, however, especially someone making the non-OGL codes and distributing them.

the Society Mind is a free download, so it should be ok to do right?

Bacris could give a definitive answer, but I'm pretty sure that Society Mind and it's supporting material is OGL. In fact, I really wish I could find a good explanation of what is and isn't OGL. So far I've got "Everthing except for some specific stuff is OGL", but no list of the specific stuff. And that's both for WotC and other publisher's material. I probably just missed something someplace.

With the exception of proper names, everything Dreamscarred Press does is open content. That started with our Untapped Potential revision (we first used a more restrictive definition, but mostly because we didn't know any better).

Everything from "Society Mind" on page 1 to the weight of the last psionic item in that free download, however, is completely Open Content.

Yes, and the PCGen site even says it has permission from Dreamscarred (http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/autobuilds/pcgen-docs/) for their classes to be used. Given it's open-game content, they probably didn't need the permission, but it's nice that they asked.

Hi Mess!

Yes, and the PCGen site even says it has permission from Dreamscarred (http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/autobuilds/pcgen-docs/) for their classes to be used. Given it's open-game content, they probably didn't need the permission, but it's nice that they asked.

Dream Scarred Press has indeed generously granted PCGen permission to include their OGL material. Unfortunately, due to the volunteer nature of the project, we do not yet have any DSP material in distribution. We are, on the other hand, always looking for new data monkeys who would be interested in producing a set for distribution!

For anyone interested in working on data sets for DSP material, feel free to drop by PCGen@Yahoo!Groups (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/pcgen/) and introduce yourself. Our online documentation is accessible here (http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/autobuilds/pcgen-docs/) and you can join us at PCGenListFileHelp@Yahoo!Groups (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/PCGenListFileHelp/) to find a number of experienced Data Monkeys who are ready and willing to provide assistance in answering the tough questions . . .
