If a soulbow took a level of illumine soul, would her mind arrows gain the ability to psychic strike undead as well?

I would say so.

I don't think the Illumine Soul's Positive energy ability would interfier with the Soul Bow's ability. Because I don't see any mention that the Soul Bow can't use the Soulknife ability to Psychic Strike. Which is what the ability deals with from what I read.

Okay, that means a single level might be worthwhile. Maybe even going so far as the undead bane ability.

I figured it would all work together since the soulbow abilities say its treated as a normal mindblade, but wasn't certain. Sounds like it'd be fun as an undead hunter.

Illumine Soul is a solid prestige. The roleplaying aspect of forging a connection to the Positive is a lot of fun, also, and can be a quest in itself. It's not really a class you can just jump right into, though*. I'd think anyone who went through all that trouble would stay with it for more than just a dip.

I can certainly see a cell of Reclaimers dedicated to ending the tyranny of an undead ruler, taking levels in soulbow and illumine soul. I might even use that idea in my campaign now, so thanks for the inspiration!

"The attack came without warning. I was newly-turned by my master after years of faithful service, and was feasting on an attractive peasant in the courtyard of the keep when one of my ghoul guards grunted and shook my shoulder. Extracting my fangs from the jugular of the pretty mortal, I looked up to see the sky filled with shooting stars, a thousand shafts in radiant colors descending upon us. I used the ghoul for cover, but a few of those arrows still struck me.

I will never forget the agony of the wounds, pure life energy surging through and disrupting my unholy form. I turned to mist and escaped, but I was the only survivor. Would you care to see the scars?"

*I'm generally opposed to the idea of jumping right into a prestige class anyway. A prestige class should be something a character has to work for.

Don't misunderstand me, I always have and will roleplay the entry and general attitude of any prestige classes I take, I'm only speaking mechanically for now talking about a possible build.

Generally I tweak a build so that it's solid and has good synergy, then I come up with roleplay impetus around that framework, often creating new organizations or even (once) an entire new kingdom in a previously unexplored region in my DM's setting (with his blessing). That kingdom survives and is still a part of the game even though the character that inspired it is long dead. : )

I may well stick with Illumine soul all the way. I like it enough that in the past I've made variants of the class for all 4 elements as well as a negative energy variant.
