03-21-07, 05:31 PM When the soulbow projects an arrow do they form a bow to shoot it or just shoot it out from their hand or is it more of a flavor choice

IOW: Flavor Choice :D

(i played an Ogre Soulbow once and for flavor, on a Crit, I'd use to say the shape of an Arbalest surrounded my Arm as the bolt skewered the target.)

03-21-07, 07:10 PM The bottom line: You fire off a focus of damage as though you have shot an arrow from a composite longbow. What people see is all special effects and that doesn't have a bearing on the mechanics. Whether you shoot a bolt from your palm or finger tip or form a bow of mental energy and fire off an arrow is fluff and doesn't change the result. So I would say it looks like whatever your character concept calls for. It will probably vary from soulbow to soulbow.

About the only game effect that might result is that you could confuse someone who blew their Spellcraft of Psicraft roll. If the roll is made, a viewer can tell the difference between a mind arrow, magic missile, and eldritch spear. But on a blown roll, a soul bow whose special effect is to create a bow of energy might be confused for Call Weaponry or a Brilliant Energy weapon. For most commoners it is all academic: They are too busy running as soon as bolts and blasts of any type are flying and subtle distinctions will be lost on them.

So even if it looks like you're using a bow, you can still hold a shield or sword in your offhand as you fire your mindarrow.

There isn't anything anywhere stating clearly wether a mindarrow (or a composite longbow) is considered a one-handed, two-handed, or light weapon for the purpose to two-weapon fighting. So while you should be able to fire more arrows in a round by using both hands, if you want to do so you'll have to work something out with your DM. In one game I ran a player played a soulbow, and we decided to treat mindarrows as one-handed weapons.

The attack is resolved in all ways (except appearance) as firing an arrow from a composite longbow, so if you want to shoot extra Mind Arrows each round, the feats to have are Rapid Shot, Manyshot, and Greater Manyshot. All of these feats are available to the soulbow as bonus feats. If you try to use TWF (composite longbow) even assuming the DM allows it, you are just going to fire off a barrage of wild misses each round (you have only medium BAB and probably lack the various Improved TWF feats).

Non-sense I charge into every battle with my 1Handed Mindblade Bastard Sword and Mindarrows flying every which way :D

There's nothing cooler then the look on a Orc's face when he see's a bolt flying at him with a bastard sword sized blade following it :cool:
