calronmoonflower 03-25-07, 09:14 PM	I have been working on soulknife prestige class, and finally put it all togther. Unlike a regular soulknife this class have a full base attack bonus and increases your manifesting level by 5 levels. Overall a psion that takes this class should end up with +17 to attack, about the same as a regular soulnife with both weapon focus (mind blade) and greater weapon focus 9mind blade). Soulknife, Prestige Prerequisites Skills: Knowledge (Psionics) 8 Ranks Psionics: Manifester Level 5 Feats: Psionic Weapon or Power Strike Hit Die: 10 Class Skills: As Soulknife Weapon and Armor proficiency: You gain proficiency with your mind blade, but not with any other weapon or armor. Class Features Powers Known: At 3rd level and every 3 levels there after you gain new powers know and power points as if you had gained a level in whatever manifesting class you belonged to before your added this prestige class, but gain no other benefits such as bonus feats or other class features. Mind Blade (Su): As soulknife except it gains a +1 enchantment at 1st level and the enchantment bonus increases by 1 every 3 levels after 1st. Throw Mind Blade (Ex): As soulknife. Psychic Strike (Su): As soulknife. Except you gain +1d8 at 3rd level and it increases by another 1d8 every 3 levels there after. Free Draw (Su): As soulknife. Shape Mind Blade (Su): As soulknife. Speed of Thought: You gain Speed of Thought as a bonus feat at 5th level. Bladewind (Su): As soulknife. Knife the Soul (Su): As soulknife. Multiple Throw (Ex): As soulknife. Hit Die: d10 Skill points of Each Additional Level: 4 + Int. Mod. Powers: At 17th level and every 2 levels there after you gain +1 to an existing manifesting class. Psychic Strike: This ability increases to +6d8 at 18th level and increases another +1d8 every three levels there after. Mind Blade: Your enchantment bonus to your mind blade increases to +6 at 20th level and increases by 1 every five levels there after. Mind Blade Enhancement: Your mind blades enhancement increases to +6 at 22nd level and increases by another +1 every five levels there after. Bonus Feats: An epic soulknife gains bonus feats at 19th level and every 4 levels there after. POWER STRIKE [Psionic] You can channel your psionic power into your melee attacks. Prerequisites: Manifester Level 5, Base Attack Bonus +5 Benefit: As a free action you may expend your psionic focus and pay 1 power point. If you do your gain a +1 bonus on your melee attacks and deals an extra +1d4 points of damage on your successful attacks for 1 round. For every extra 2 power points you pay the bonus increases by another +1 and the damage increases by another +1d4. The bonus on your attack roll cannot be greater that your base attack bonus. You may not expend more power points in this way than your manifester level. EDIT 1: Added Psionic Weapon to the Prerequisites. EDIT 2: Changed Prerequisite to Psionic Weapon or Power Strike.

I assume skill points are equal to regular soulknife also? As for prerequsites, I woud probably choose some kind of psionic feat like Psionic weapon as a requirement to take the class. And maybe drop the manifester level requirement to one? He is gonna be a strong, focused manifester at fifth, but then really weak at 20th, doesn't seem to make much sense. But as I said looks fair and well balanced.

You can take Practiced Manifester to qualify for this class with a level 1 dip, if you have the proper knowledge skill. That way i didn't make it "The ability to manifest 3rd level powers." I cannot think of many other ways other than a psionic manifesting class that you can get knowledge (psionics) from, except a wizard! or expert and if you drop that and the manifesting ability what could you add to replace it? As it is you are moving from your ability to generate powers to be able to produce a mind blade. Also at 20th you would have the full abilities of a regular Soulknife and 10 manifester levels. With psionic buffing it can be a huge boost. But as I said looks fair and well balanced. Thanks I appreciate the input.
Magrus 03-25-07, 10:31 PM	I just figured I'd chime in to say I like it quite a bit. I may end up using it for an NPC sometime soon. Kudos for making something that doesn't make me cringe and curse when looking at it! :P
calronmoonflower 04-26-07, 04:29 AM	I changed the Prerequisites slightly and added the Power Strike. Seems like it could be a better option for a psion than the Psionic Weapon chain.

Compare it to arcane strike, which costs a 9th level spell to do +9 +9d4, this can do +9 +9d4 for just 9 power points, at manifester level 9 (you can even increase it's power with practiced manifester, wheras practiced spellcaster wont give you higher level spell slots).

Ya but he could still take power strike after he qualified for the class with psionic weapon, but where it does the most damage is when a psychic warrior or any melee/psionic combo character takes the feat. [edit] Bah, he already changed it to tone it down.

You misread it. Past the first power point you must pay 2 for the extra bonuses. I however didn't think of that it works with Prcticed manifester to power it up more.
CrimsonDeath 04-27-07, 02:23 AM	Yeah, Practiced Manifester will power it up more, but you're still behind on your total PP reserve. Why spend 9 PP on 5d4 damage when you can manifest the Crystal Shards power instead and do 9d6?

Power Strike like Arcane Strike doesn't apply on just one attack. Also note that while no WotC classes can take Power Strike for the prerequisite for this prestige class and get all 15 levels before epic, the marksman from Untapped potential can. I'm also currently working on a non-power focused psionic class that can.
