Oorlof 05-09-07, 09:47 AM	My*) group is starting a Dark Sun campaign soon, and we're*) looking at the various classes that either don't exist on Athas or are very rare. One of them is the Soulknife, which doesn't rely on physical weapons and so has a leg up on all the guys hitting each other with bone weaponry. Anyways, we*) decided to make Soulknives rare, not nonexistant: a Prestige Class seems appropriate. The one in 3.0 doesn't really mesh with the 3.5 rules anymore. I*) recall a couple of posts on this board about a remade Soulknife, but can't find them anymore with the google search. Anyone here have a link? *) Actually, this is Oorlof's psicrystal posting, not the man himself. My owner/creator opened the 3.0 psionic handbook to look at the old Soulknife PrC, glanced at the rules for psionic combat and went nova on himself with Modify Memory. We're slowly rebooting him and are enjoying quite a lot of succes in achieving autonomous breathing. Until the drooling ends and my master stops repeating "Hastur", I'll manage his affairs.

InkBlot 05-09-07, 02:47 PM	The best thing about Athas.org's Soulknife PrC is that it crams nearly every class feature of the 20 level class into 10 levels. Thus you have another 10 levels to do whatever you need to do to make your character a competent adventurer! Compared to the XPH's soulknife, it's almost like you're playing gestalt. Also you can get Multiple Throw like 7 levels earlier.
RavinRay 05-10-07, 01:12 AM	In the meantime (slightly OT), there's a drow soulknife (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/DrowUnderdark_Gallery/104488.jpg) in the Drow of the Underdark Art Gallery (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20070509a&page=4). I wonder if that will have class/racial/variant substitution levels?

Probably either Explorer's Handbook, Secrets Of Xen'drik, or some Dragon Magazine. *insert hate for FR/Greyhawk drow here* I think it was in Dragon #330, in the article about the Umbragen (a subrace to a subrace, when Mr. Baker said there wouldn't be any subraces in Eberron? :uh-huh: ;) ). However, IIRC, this substitution levels made the soulknife a magical class and removed any connection to psionics.

If you want a soulknife PrC (directed primarily to PsiW), check Athas.org's document on PrCes, it includes a soulknife and a monk PrCes, good for campaigns that need that thing. Beware, it is a bit on the strong side :P
