Right now I am looking at using Blaine Tog's Fix for the class as my base. My basic thought at the moment is to go for a Soulknife 14/Illumine Soul 1/Incarnum Blade 5 build. What other builds should I be looking at? And anyone have any good suggestions for feats? Thanks in advance! |

If you use Untapped Potential's Mind Blade Kensai feat, you're not losing much in the way of mind blade enhancements. You also gain powers, a manifester level, and some nice free-action self-buffs. You should absolutely take the Hidden Talent alternative class feature (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070214a), no matter what you do. Illumine soul is a good prestige class if you're in an undead-heavy campaign. I found my soulknife/illumine soul/war mind wasn't hampered against non-undead by the illumine soul abilities. The ability to death ward himself was very, very useful at high levels. |

I guess my big hesitation with taking levels in Warmind would be the lowering of my bonuses on the Mindblade itself. Is there enough benefit in taking these classes to offset this? In the build I mentioned above, my thought process in that was to build a mindblade that hit like a truck on a consistent basis. Without having my notes and books in front of me, I’ll have to try and remember some of the numbers….but I will give it a try: With the build of Soulknife 14/Illumine Soul 1/Incarnum Blade 5 I should be able to get a mindblade that will hit evil alignment types with 6d6 per attack (2d6 for a great sword, 2d6 for holy, 1d6 for an incarnum blade ability, and 1d6 for 1 random enhancement ability). Then I can also add Greater Psi Weapon (+2d6) and Psionic Strike (+4d8) for some additional fun on the occasional attack. With the 1 level of Illumine Soul, I’ll be able to affect mindless and undead creatures. Using Blaine Tog’s SK build, Illumine Soul and Mindblade Kensai will get me up to a level 18 MB equivalent (hence being able to add Holy and an additional damage enhancement feature). And I know that in the 3.5 rules that weapon damage varies based on creature size, but I do believe the DM is going the route of making weapon damage consistent instead of changing it per size category, hence the calculating GS damage at 2d6. So, is taking Warmind worth losing the consistent damage? Also, what are the reviews on the Blade Manifester? Anything good there? |
