I currently have a 4th level Maenad soulknife. I plan on going up to 6th level and then taking levels of pyrokineticist. I'm thinking of taking leadership later on. and maybe even the psionic weapon and greater psionic weapon. any Ideas or precotions? I want this character to survive but He needs to have a good build. (DM's a bit harsh with chalenges...)

Soulknife is a good class for the Pyro, as you have no manifester levels to lose. However, the class is almost pointless until you gain the weapon afire abilities. Otherwise, your mindblade is better than the fire lash.

Keep in mind, that the Fire Lash, is a "whip", hitting with a Ranged Touch Attack, and cannot take Attacks of Opportunity.

I was thinking of the weapon afire/psionic weapon/phychic strike combo. you could have some serious damage potential. with waiting a round as the only real drawback. anyway I also relish making people refer to me as Pyro Balilius.

You could dualwield your mindblade with the fire lash...It makes for a nice mental image...:)

It's a good combo. A fun trick is to use your flame lash to disarm an enemy from a distance, then step up and annihilate them with your mind blade. You should look into Improved Disarm if you're going that path a lot.

I think the CO boards has a soulknife build thread somewhere...:)

thanks guys. I was thinking opening move use sonic ray, charge all of my stuff up for a devistating attack, deal massive damage, if enemy is still alive, step back disarm and them trip them, rinse repeat. I always imagine that fully charged attack as leaving a crater...

Hope you don't have too high expectations of just what "massive damage" constitutes...;)

My DM let me stack Fire Lash on top of a dagger whip my charater was using at the time. He decided that since the Fire Lash was a ranged touch attack it wasn't a fully corporeal whip and could overlay the actual whip I was already using. The real fun would have come when I got Weapon Afire and it greater counterpart. Nasty nasty weapon. I'd suggest, if you have the room in your build, taking the feat that let's you shape your mind blade into any weapon your proficient with and then taking Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Whip and seeing if your DM would allow the same stacking.

not overly so. just a lot more than I normally could with the normal builds I make.

a good idea, but my DM won't allow that. (I don't think I would either, but your reasoning does make since.)
