| Scion of Coldshard02-28-07, 05:47 PM | I have played a few different versions of shaper and generally they have all been fun and useful. The problems came in when I had a lot of time to prepare for an enemy that I knew was a very short distance away or if we were jumped by a larger force and I was not able to pull off those round action long manifestations. Which part are you looking at that seems week to you? That might help narrow down the focus. |

The potency of the Construct Shaper depends greatly on what material you use. -If you use just the Expanded Psionics Handbook, Construct Shapers are flexible casters that can solve many problems. They can effectively create 1 or more constructs to fill essential combat roles. -If you use the XPH and all of Complete Psionic, their ability to overwhelm an enemy with constructs decreases, but their general power stays the same. -If you use the Mind's Eye in addition to XPH, the Constructor 3.5 prestige class greatly enhances the capabilities of a Shaper at the cost of manifester levels. A Constructor makes better constructs at the cost of not being as durable as a straight shaper. -A Devoted Shaper (from Untapped Potential) multiclassed to Constructor without Complete Psionic changes is the most potent creator of Astral Constructs. The Devoted Shaper sacrifices ML in other disciplines for extra metacreativity power. In general, if you take as many of these feats/power/classes as possible, you'll be a good "summoner": Ecto Protection, Repair Damage, Boost Construct, Overchannel, Talented, Psionic Meditation, Extend Power, Temporal Acceleration, the Constructor prestige class, Quicken Power, Devoted Shaper class |
