| Behaigo10-26-07, 04:27 PM | Hey everybody, I've been pretty inactive the past year, but hopefully that will be changing. Anyway, I'm currently playing a Elan Telepath 4//Psychic Warrior 4 and was wondering if I could get help coming up with ideas for where I will be taking him. Str: 18 Dex: 12 Con: 14 Int: 18 Wis: 16 Cha: 12 A couple of things to note: -We are using an up scaled version of the gestalt rules that allows us to take two prestige classes at once. -We are in a homebrewed world that psionics are incredibly rare (about 1 psion for every 1,000 wizards) -Psionics are different -Sometime in the near future my party will be turned by a Nosferatu (from the Denzines of Dread handbook from the Ravenloft setting) -There are two parties in my playing group, one good one evil, I happen to be on the evil side. -I am in a group with a rogue//scout and a rogue//warblade (we are essentialy a band of theives) -Dicipline powers are learned automaticly and do not count against powers learned (I know its OP, but the DMs words are law! :P) The main idea behind my character is "If I can't melt your mind I'll break your face." I was thinking of taking Thrallheard on my telepath side as eventually we will be setting up a stronghold (though that is pretty far in the future) but I'm not quite sure what to do on the PsyWar side, maybe elocater (along with rapid blitz). The only problem I can think of is my poor charisma making Thrallheard not worth it, though I was talking to my DM and we may houserule it so its based on my int (due to the nature of how thralls are aquired). My current feats are as follows: Elan resistance, improved Elan resilience, improved Power attack Cleave Psionic Weapon Anyone have any ideas? |

| Behaigo10-28-07, 03:48 PM | I was thinking on entering thrallherd ASAP, anyone else have any advice? |
| DracoPhoenix10-30-07, 09:00 AM | See if you can get the DM to confirm a Psi War as a Manifesting class: Telepath 5 / Thrallherd 10 / Arch Psion 5 // Psi War 5 / Uncarnate 10 / Psi War 5 (Arch psion is on the wizards site) On the Arch Psion, pack Ranged touch (max x2) (3 words: Empathic. Transfer. Hostile. Nuff said), powerturning, (optional) shaping, +1-3 to ML. On the Psi Warrior, pack a Skin of Proteus so you can change shape and become in/corporeal (don't assume it) at will. Optional pet rock for concentration powers. Thrallherd wise, here's some domintate tips (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=945489). Pick a possibly cleric or full tank as your Major Minions, a spy network & cheaper mundane retail items for your believers. (Then arrange for with the DM that you don't need to name them all up front as it were. You can say get 50% off mundane item in any town or larger area, and you can elect to get up to 1d4 people on your payroll in any given civilisation size category (town, city etc)) As for the "If I can't melt your mind I'll break your face.", "Your body, or you mind. I'm going to break at least one of them." Take perform (ventriloquist). Nothing like a ghost dragon coming through the wall to clear the guard room (Even if it's only a Large one). Especially if you control sound to fill it with a deafining & terrifying roar. (Aversion on yourself may also encourage a career change) Or Disguise - "Look, I own this bank, now let me in the vault" *suggestion* Better do as he says, I don't want to lose my job */suggestion* Good night security is soooo hard to find. Shame. no really. Re CHA - look at the Thralherd's Ld table, you may not get amazing, but you might not be as disadvantaged as you think. You can also by Cloaks of Charisma. Just put it on before you get Th1 See if you can't dominate the Vamp before he get's to you. nice paradox, he turns you, you own him :) |
| Behaigo10-30-07, 05:05 PM | DracoPhoenix, thank you VERY much, I need to check with my DM to see if PsyWar is indeed a manifesting class, if so this build is golden BTW, i get an error when trying to look up the pet rock, any way you can explain what it does? |
| InkBlot10-30-07, 06:09 PM | I need to check with my DM to see if PsyWar is indeed a manifesting class That's like checking with your DM to see if Barbarians can rage. A psicrystal (a.k.a., a pet rock) is like a familiar in many ways. There are important differences, mostly in that the psicrystal requires a feat, is a construct rather than a squishy magical beast, and doesn't come with any rules regarding what happens if it dies. Psicrystals are hardier than a familiar, but have other limitations (e.g., they can't see anything more than a few yards away). |

| Behaigo10-31-07, 12:22 PM | Ok, I noticed that there was a Minds Eye article named Pet Rock and wasn't sure if it was indeed a Psicrystal. |
| CrimsonDeath10-31-07, 12:48 PM | Ok, I noticed that there was a Minds Eye article named Pet Rock and wasn't sure if it was indeed a Psicrystal. Did you try reading it? Or even skimming it? |
| Behaigo10-31-07, 01:22 PM | Did you try reading it? Or even skimming it? When I tried opening the page I received an internal server error. So yes, I did. |
| CrimsonDeath10-31-07, 03:44 PM | Ah, sorry. That must have been frustrating. |
| DracoPhoenix11-02-07, 05:41 PM | Addendum - if you pack a cleric as your Th1, consider asking for one with the dominate domain from Comp divine. Depending on how much control you're allowed on your Th's stats, pack Domain spontenaity (Domintate) and extra turning / nightsticks. When you get high enough, Monsterous Thrall ~at will will be quite useful for adding to your army. (Dominate @at will will also be of use) I'm in a RoHD campagin atm, which will be leading into an evil campaign. My plan is to take a scroll of MT and hit the BBEG with dominate from my Telepath & Cleric with Dom until I catch it, then MT the BBEG. What?! It's the quickest way to raise an army from what I can tell. |
| Behaigo11-05-07, 06:39 PM | I just took a homebrewed feat that allows me to use mind affecting powers agains undead, so I will probably be doing something very similar :D |

Though admittedly, it is a fort negates power, so might not always work. |

Unfortunately, Control Body technically won't work on undead, since it requires a Fortitude save and doesn't work on objects... |

| Behaigo11-06-07, 11:19 AM | I remember in the 3.0 psionics handbook there was a power called Thrall that was essentially Dominate but with a permanent duration. Has this power been reproduced in 3.5 anywhere? If so, where can I find it? |

| Behaigo11-06-07, 11:58 AM | How dificult would it be to convert it into a psionic power? I would imagine it would be a telepathy dicipline power. |
| InkBlot11-06-07, 12:04 PM | Psionic dominate has a duration of one day per level, if augmented by four points. That's a minimum of 11 days. If you can't get back to your mind slave within two weeks to re-manifest the power on him or her, then use the Extend Power feat to increase the duration to a month. Is a month not long enough? |
| Behaigo11-06-07, 12:24 PM | I just like the idea of "Your mine forever" Edit: Also, if I remember right, even if the creature you use thrall on makes a save to resist going against its nature it remains under your controll. |
