FangsofChaos 07-18-07, 05:17 PM	I'm currently a 5th level wilder, and after I take spring attack at 6th level, I'm going to enter the Elocater prestige class and I have a few questions on one of it's abilities. It seems to me that the Elocaters Scorn Earth ability pretty much lets you walk on walls. It says as long as you are within 1 foot of any surface, they can move as normal. And If they are not, they move at 10ft per round. So this also suggests to me no fall damage. And as long as you can get within 1 foot of a surface, you're in complete control of your "fall". Am I right on this? anybody want to shed some light?

CrimsonDeath 07-18-07, 05:52 PM	As written, yes, you can operate as though you were walking as long as you are within one foot of any solid or liquid surface, regardless of whether that surface is horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. In practice, some DMs limit you to operating in that manner only with surfaces below you that do not normally require a Climb check to traverse. Also, you cannot fall unless you intentionally suppress the ability.

Even when playing an elocater, it always bothered me. The ability is called "scorn earth", and I just never felt comfortable with the idea of walking on liquids such as acid, lava, turbulent water, etc. I also conceptualized it as a sort of repulsion effect, and liquids are too malleable in my opinion. *shrug* PS - any depth greater than 1 foot places you more than 1foot above ground. ;)
Caterpillar 07-19-07, 04:38 PM	I believe this is covered in the FAQ (Tempest will be here soon to say that if it is :b) The Elocator (so long as concious) can't fall, so you don't haveto worry about that. Works on liquids just fine. Note: Basically you are permanently under the effects of Levitate, Psionic.

"Must of" is a common error resulting from people misinterpreting "must've," which is an contraction of "must have." Similarly, there is no such phrase as "could of." On-topic, Scorn Earth does, indeed, let you walk up walls, on ceilings, across pools of lava, over loose gravel, and along spiderwebs. You also cannot fall. If you were walking along and the floor fell out from under you, you would not fall. You would, however, be reduced to a speed of 10 feet until you got to a point where your feet were within a foot of a surface.

I will admit that the phrase "should/would/could of" drives me up the frakkin' wall, but not with the scorned earth ability.
