~The character that I play(posted below) is essentially a Jedi, using powers such as Concussion Blast and Suggestion and the Jedi-like stuff. He ends up having a AC of 27ish in battle so I've dubbed him the practitioner of Soresu, Lightsaber form III.

~At lvl 12 He will take Leadership and start an Academy for future Jedi. They will be primarily Psionic, hence me posting here. So here it is:

~Shii-Cho, Form I. Essentially a power house build. This will be his cohort at lvl 12. He will be Monk 2/ Psychic Warrior 5/ Human Paragon 3. He will use variants such as descisive strike and leap attack and power attack to do a lot of damage.

~Form II, Makashi: Fencing

~Form III, Soresu: Defensive

~Form IV, Ataru: Acrobatic

~Form V, Shien: All-around

~Form VI, Niman: Diplomatic

~Form VII, Vapaad: Fast moving, multiple attacks

~Anyone else that has any ideas on how to make low-level Jedi with this fit would be wonderful help.

I'm pretty not Shii-Cho and what you looking for is Djem So.

~Shien, Form V, is also known as Djem So. I've only seen Shii-Cho for Form I, with Kit Fisto and such.

Djem So is a more aggressive variant of Djem So. Used by Annie and Luke IRRC.

vapaad sounds like it could be covered by someone with monk levels and the feat from ebberon whirling steel strike, which allows you to use a longsword as part of a flurry of blows attack.

That seems...somewhat illogical, seeing there are vast differences between a realtivly massless energy blade and a solid longsword. I would recommend something out of Hero's of Horror, seeing how it partially draws on the dark side.

brilliant energy long sword. For all your lightsaber needs.

also note: he's doing star wars in DnD. There is a d20 game for star wars, but he's doing it in dnd. Probably for a reason. Maybe he wants to be the 'first jedi'. If that's the case, they won't have actual lightsabers for some many thousands of years.

Vaapad is not just about rapid strikes. It also focuses on reflecting your opponents energy back at him. So maybe add that power that sends damage you take back at the enemy(can't remeber what it's called).

Djem So is also about dominating your opponent, so maybe some battlefeild control elements.

Mastery of Niman is required to learn twqo-saber combat, as well as double-bladed lightsabers.

Though Soresu is the best defensive form, Djem So is the most likely to deflect shots back where they came from.

For lightsaber: An item that mimicks a soulknife's mindblade.
hovnarr

or an item that mimics an electricity substituted Flame Blade.

Or just a lightsaber. A 2d8 slahing and energy one-handed martial weapon that bypasses DR and can be turned on and off. The item is already statted up in d20. To port it over, just use a magical/psionic rather than techy rationale for the construction, and put a price tag on it. It's as simple as that.

for a lightsaber: +1 brilliant energy, flaming, shocking longsword. (+7 total weapon).

For the power that bounces things back, that's Reddopsi. 7th level power I think.

about mindblade: good point. An illumine blade would probably be a good 'jedi' class to go with. Or pyrokineticist (for weapon aflame).

I already go with soulknife5/illumine soul5/soulbow10 to make a quincy :P

One problem, where are you goign to get the powers from? A fancy glowing blade a Jedi does not equate.

Take some levels in Psiwarrior. :P

Edit: Or Ardent, either would suffice.

I prefer to call them the order of the illumine bow. It sounds cooler. And less people will bash you for referencing bleach. I didn't mention that because this is 'how to make a jedi' though, not 'how to make anime characters in dnd'. If you want to do that...well, make a thread :P

Shouldn't that be "How to make Bleach characters"? I mean anime is a broad category, much like calling this "how to make sci-fi chars". Sorry to nitpick, that kinda struck me wierd...

I would, but all the responses I get are from people who think the cleric is the weakest dnd class.... And that Don Konochi is cool

~Are you sure Niman uses two lightsabers? I dont think so. I know that Jar'Kai, used by Asajj Ventress, uses two lightsabers; and Juyo, used by Darth Maul, also does the same, using acrobatics and a double lightsaber.

~Niman was used by most jedi come time for Battle of Geonosis. It is a weaker form that allows the jedi to concentrate on diplomatic reasoning, or for a jedi that does not have full time to devote themselves to combat.

~I do have the Star Wars RPG. The new one in fact. I think it is what DnD 4th ed. is going to be. I like it quite a bit, but im disappointed by the skills work. Im making a jedi for the soul fact that everyone in my group wants to play DnD, including me, and i thought it'd be fun.

~My lightsabers for my characters include a +1 Merciful Cobalt Blue Glowing Deep Crystal Hideaway Longsword, a +1 Shocking Amethyst Glowing Deep Crystal Bastard Sword, and a +1 Emerald Glowing Hideaway Adamantine Longsword.

Are those all actual weapon enhancements, and if so where can I find them.
Rhyvurg

10-18-07, 01:50 AM
Niman doesn't use two sabers, but a Jedi must master it to attain the neccesary balance for two-saber or double saber combat.

And Juyo is an incomplete form of Vapaad, mixed with elements of Djem So and Ataru.

I can't remember what it's called, but there is a from of combat that only activates the lightsaber during the moment of a strike or block. Palpatine uses it in the Battlefront 2 game.

Reminds me of Exar Kun's supposed technique, based on his variable density blade control...

I've actually been trying to make a Jedi class for a while. I'm kicking around the idea of making the different forms a different set of class features taken at five-level intervals, similar to a ranger's favored enemy ability. As in you get five levels of the basic form to start, then pick one of the other six for levels five through ten, and so on.

P.S.: There is a wiki for Star Wars that detailed descriptions of all the combat forms: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber_combat#The_unorthodox

Quendi, where did you get those weapon enhancements? Like the colors and the crystal stuff. I could use those for lightsabers, I have been trying to make a jedi for a while, and the lightsabers would help.

This comes up a lot. Brilliant Energy is basically useless...you can't use it against Constructs, Undead, or objects.

Deep Impact or other means of dropping touch attacks is what you're looking for. Touch and some way to get massive power attack bonuses.

Adamantine, Charged (XPH/MIC), Psychokinetic Burst (XPH/MIC), Parrying (XPH/MIC) Hideaway (RoW) weapon. Gives you the glow, the auto damage against incorporal, enhances your AC, and retracts into your hilt.

In a campaign I'd say you're going to want to 'build' it in this order. Adamantine, +1 Hideaway, Charged, Parrying, Psychokinetic Burst. It's a +6 (plus GP) weapon by the time you're done, but we're talking about high level ardents/psychic warriors/slayers anyway.

Hideaway is an awesome suggestion, and should be part of any Lightsaber build. Adamantine is useful too, but I feel like the rest of it you could go without.

Anyone else feel like Swordsage + Warblade would make just as good a Jedi as a Psionic character? You get your super jumps (Tiger Claw), your ridiculous Defense + Healing (Diamond Mind + Iron Heart), your ability to ignore DR/Hardness (Stone Mountain)...the only thing missing really is Telapathy.

This really makes me want to build a Jedi.

If you were doing a Jedi PrC, an interesting req would be Craft Psionic Weapon, as they have to make their own lightsaber.

And telekinesis. A ring of telekinesis would work, but has a 75k price tag.

Why doesn't someone just stat up a lightsaber?
moebius00

Why doesn't someone just stat up a lightsaber?

The obvious starting point:
Adamantine +1 Hideaway Bastard Sword. Automatically has the "gives off light" property. It would cost about 12,300 GP.

Anything else on this is gravy, since the real "power" of being a D&D Jedi comes from Touch Attacks (Deep Impact + Power Attack) or Psy Warrior or Tome of Battle abilities (Mountain Hammer; Greater Psionic Weapon; Emerald Razor).

If I were writing a Jedi Knight PrC, I would have the pre-reqs look something like:

Feats: Craft Psionic Arms and Armor (reqs. ML 5th)
Skills: Concentration 8 ranks; Knowledge [Psionics] 8 ranks
Special: Must construct their own lightsaber (the cost for this works out to ~6150 GP and ~206 XP, which is in the range for a 5th-6th level character to make); must be Proficient with the constructed lightsaber (so realistically, you also have to have EWP [Bastard Sword]).

The class would probably look something like 7/10 ML, with the class abilities focused on improving your use of the lightsaber, and the off levels giving you access to a few extra Telepathy or Telekinesis Powers (maybe one each time)

You would also have to throw in Taint rules for the Dark Side.

There's the Luminae (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-439562), a jedi-like prestige class for soulknives (not made by me).

Also, Moebius, I was thinking about your suggestion of ToB for Jedi. The Desert Wind fire maneuvers could be switched to lightning damage for Force Lightning. Although I can't think of any specific parallels, Devoted Spirit strikes, both the ones that heal and the ones that just deal damage, seem jedi-ish to me for some reason. Really, increased damage strikes from any of the schools might fit Jedi; almost all the forms except Vaapad, and maybe Makashi, seem to focus on one powerful strike.

Lastly, would the Setting Sun throws work for Force Push? I can't seem to recall anyone using Force Push against a target more than like 10 feet away.

Also, to get back to the original question: In one of the last SWD20 supplements (Heroes' Guide, I think), they have "Form Mastery" Feats with specific prereqs. That might be a good place to start.

I'm a big fan of that system, except for the way they run Force skills...I probably would give them a PP total instead of making them spend Vitality. In the current system, one Critical Hit (which drops Vitality to 0, IIRC), and you're completely unable to use the Force.

Shouldn't that be 7300 (+3000 adamantine, +2000 +1, +2000 Hideaway)?

Oops...sorry. I wasn't looking at the book when added up, but if that'ts the case, it will only be about 7000 (MW costs are included in Adamantine), which is totally makeable for a 5th level character (3500 + 140 XP).

Some of the Weapon and Armor Crystals in the MIC also have cool properties. There's one that lets you TK your weapon into your hand if it's 30 ft. away.

There is also the ranged deflection series for armor, giving you up to a +5 AC (or +2 and Def. Arrows) against ranged attacks, which is very lightsaber deflection.

Ah, right. Though adamantine doesn't count for XP costs, so it's actually (2000 gp + 160 XP) and 3035 gp for the weapon itself (or 1/3 that if self-made, which is probably recommended).

Adamantine isn't covered in Craft Magic (or Psionic) Arms and Armor. So it would be 3000 + 2000 + 140 XP, unless you had enough ranks in Craft (Weaponsmith) to make it yourself (which would cut the price by a lot).

EDIT: Argh! Ninja'd!

It should also have the shadow striking ablity from Tome of magic, which overcomes any DR. Its pricey at a +3 though.
