The Usefulness of Fell Shot [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-08-07, 12:27 AM Unlike, it's melee counterpart Deep Impact, I haven't seen anybuild that captilizes on this psionic feat. Is it good enough to be picked, assuming there's a good build for this, given that a majority has stated that it doesn't work with Manyshot? Any thoughts on this? :cool:

08-08-07, 04:18 AM I'm not sure why anyone would say it doesn't work with Manyshot. Fell Shot applies to a single ranged attack, and Manyshot specifically states that all the arrows fired belong to a single attack.

08-08-07, 08:37 AM My guess would be that Deep Impact has an inherent synergy with Power Attack, and a lot of melee builds thrive on that. As there is no ranged analogue for Power Attack, and most ranged builds should have little problem hitting, they pick up Greater Psionic Shot instead.

There is, though: Power Throw, which is pretty much what it sounds like.

It might be fun to take both deep impact and fell shot, power attack and power throw and Hurling Charge, which lets you attack with a ranged weapon while charging — and mix them with the various charge-multiplier tactics — to get some nasty amounts of first-strike damage.

(Or, of course, you could just use Pounce and Wraithstrike.)

There's also an old 3.0 PrC that gave power attack with bows, though that's seldom used.
