What happens when you try to use time hop on an item that someone is carrying. (For example, one of my players mentioned that in the future they should just time hop an enemy's army when they have a good AC so that they no longer benefit from it. Thankfully, they didn't try it at this game, as I hadn't really thought about it.)

I see two potential answers to this question:
1. You can't time hop a worn/carried item. You take the whole creature, equipment and all, or none of it. (Else if they time hopped something...or were time hopped, if "creature" and "equipment" were piecemeal, only the creature would disappear, the items would crash to the ground, and when the creature returned, it would be naked...it's items having moved from its original position. I am 100% sure that was not the original intent of the power, but it's the logical extension of time hopping things piece-meal off a creature.)

2. You can time hop a worn/carried item. But then what is "an item". If you can take things piece-meal, then you'd have to take them all piece-meal, so is a suit of plate mail "an object"? Or is it 20 (or thereabouts) objects because each individual piece is "an object"? That would be alot of augmenting!

I'm inclined to think that time hop was intended to include a creature and all its equipment when it talks about a creature. And an unattended object when it talks about object. It does not say that, but the alternatives all seem subjective, running from just strange to absolutely comical. (ie, back to returning unclothed with no equipment.)

I've got two weeks before my next game, but I would sincerely appreciate some input from those who have played psions or run heavy-psionics games. What have you found that works (or doesn't).

You can target an attended item with time hop. What an attended item includes is kind of a mixture of the manifester's intent and the DM's interpretation.

In this case, the plate mail is statted as a single item, so it would be time hopped as a single item, and it would reappear in the same location and state it was time hopped from.

Since the DC of time hop doesn't scale, however, it's going to become easier and easier for enemies to make their saves, but with low-Wisdom, low-Will save creatures, using feats and such to increase the saving throw will be sufficient for quite awhile (if the manifester chooses to take this route).

I don't think you can time hop a creature and forgo some of its attended equipment, however; you can target the creature and its items, or you can target some of its items, but you can't target the creature sans its items. It's just not in the targetting rules.
