| The_Black_Cat06-28-07, 06:57 PM | Another Question. I first want to ask where does a Su ability come from. The body or the mind? I ask because I was wondering what would happen if a Synad used True Mind Switch on an Elan. Which Su would be where? I mind it strange for an Elan to suddenly have his mind split into three parts. I see it more possible that the Synad's very mind (three-fold mind) and all the abilities that are linked to it go with him into the Elan. But then I question the Elan's abilities. Are they of the mind or the body? My main question is, Is it possible to have both the Synad's and the Elan's abilities at the same time? I just thought it would be quite interesting but I'm not sure of the overpowering or anything. |

So you still have the Su powers from the Synad, but not the Su from the Elan. You just look like the Elan. From an rp standpoint, any Su or Sp abilities are of the mind. Any Ex abilities stay with the body. |
| Lokiyn06-28-07, 07:18 PM | Where an ability is fixed is entirely unrelated to this question. The only thing that matters is what the power does. Mindswitch, True works exactly like mindswitch aside from the listed differences. You gain the type of your assumed body. You gain the Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores of your assumed body. You gain the natural armor, natural attacks, movement, and other simple physical characteristics of your assumed body. You gain the extraordinary special attacks and qualities of your assumed body, but you do not gain supernatural or spell-like abilities. You gain the possessions and equipment of your assumed body. You retain your own hit points, saving throws (possibly modified by new ability scores), class abilities, supernatural and spell-like abilities, spells and powers, and skills and feats (although skill checks use your new ability scores, and you may be temporarily unable to use feats whose requirements you do not meet in your new body). This is all that matters. |
| AntiDjinn06-28-07, 11:57 PM | Supernatural abilities or effects switch with you. This happens whether or not you like it: If you are under a compulsion or geas you remain compelled or geased in your new bod; you don't leave the effect behind as a welcoming gift to the mind moving into your old bod. The rule to remember is "you" remain "you" in the new bod. Even damage moves with you, as your hit points remain unchanged. Exceptions to this: If the effect depends on a physical item or body part that isn't part of the deal for your new body, then things may not work out for you. A beholder who mind switches can't use his eye rays because the eyes don't move with him. If you switch with someone who is wearing a cursed ring then you do become cursed because you wind up wearing the item after the switch. |
