| Wotc_Mark02-26-07, 08:39 PM | I thought I would give you a little update on what we have in the works for the minds eye. March: Expanded Classes, Part 2 (Egoist, Kineticist, Nomad) April: Expanded Classes, Part 3 (Seer, Shaper, Telepath) May: Expanded Classes, Part 4 (Ardent, Divine Mind, Lurk) June: Expanded Classes, Part 5 (Erudite) July: Monsters, Part 1 August: Monsters, Part 2 Sept: TBD Oct: TBD I had originally planned to add Erudite to Part 4 however we cracked the 7000 word mark for that article and I had to split it in two and because over 3000 words was on the Erudite so it seemed logical to make it its own article. We have some ideas for Sept and Oct and if we get them done sooner we may swap them with the monsters. Or should the expanded classes need additional work the schedule may change a bit. Anyway that is what is planned, we shall see how it all works out. MJ :behold: |
| Artector02-26-07, 08:41 PM | Darn you! I want the stuff for the Shaper now! Guess I'll just have to wait for the greatness. Still really happy to see the Mind's Eye is back to full-tilt. |
| Jaid02-26-07, 08:44 PM | sweet... we're gonna have mind's eye back for a good while just from that one idea then :) now all we have to do is give you so many amazing ideas, they're forced to either pick up the pace with the mind's eye, or publish a psionics book with a reversed quality:suckage ratio as compared to complete psionic... |
| Wotc_Mark02-26-07, 08:52 PM | And there is still the possibility that I will change my mind and submit a 7000 word article :) --MJ |
| Bacris02-26-07, 09:00 PM | Outstanding! :D |
| QuarianRex02-26-07, 10:19 PM | Me...So...Happy...:dancin: |
| Asadeseth02-26-07, 11:28 PM | Hmmm, you know I alwase looked at the Eurodite as fitting beter as a Feet, just rase the XP cost of learning a power up too 1000XP per level, it blanaces out with a certan power in the XPH... hint hint |
| kyeudo02-26-07, 11:37 PM | I'm already drooling. More psi goodies from WotC! Maybe next they'll decide to release a new psi source book. Probably just me dreaming, though. |
| Mitchell02-27-07, 12:31 AM | I enjoyed the first expanded classes article (and I am not alone there), so I look forward to these as well. Thanks for the work, and maybe, hopefully, psionics will recieve more, and better, attention in the future. |
| RavinRay02-27-07, 12:40 AM | I'm curious as what makes the erudite so outstanding that it needs 3,000 words for an expanded classes treatment. This has got to be a biggie. And a 7,000-word article had got to be bursting the seams with psionic goodies. In the meantime... 15 days to go before March Mind's Eye! |
| ssvegeta55502-27-07, 01:31 AM | Will there be an official feat for the Erudite to give them more unique powers per day? *hint hint* I'm glad the Erudite has 3000 words, that's a lot of information to digest. The Erudite is my favorite psionic class, so I can't wait. If only it wasn't so far away... |
| Suldarr'essalar02-27-07, 02:44 AM | Shaper, Seer and Telepath, all-at-once :D nut not till april... :( But it's good to see a good psionic material back. |
| RavinRay02-27-07, 08:21 AM | Will there be an official feat for the Erudite to give them more unique powers per day? I was thinking along the same lines, but perhaps with fewer total powers to balance it off. |
| Thomar_of_Uointer02-27-07, 01:42 PM | Sweeeet. Though I'm getting a nagging, suspicious feeling that we'll see a Mind's Eye Compendium sometime in the far future... |
| Tempest Stormwind02-27-07, 01:46 PM | Great news! Thanks, Mark; I look forward to seeing what you've got.I was thinking along the same lines, but perhaps with fewer total powers to balance it off. When the Erudite first appeared in Dragon (the broken version), it had a feat, Extra Unique Power, which let it manifest another unique power per day. Mechanically, it was identical to Extra Slot in terms of how it worked. With the CPsi erudite, which is SIGNIFICANTLY better, such a feat would probably be fine -- +1 unique power per day, cannot be taken more than once (or if it can, the feat either gains increased prerequisites or diminishing returns). That puts it on par with Extra Granted Maneuver and Extra Readied Maneuver from the Tome of Battle, by and large, as well as similar other "extra" feats -- possible to play without, a huge boon to play with. |
| Wotc_Mark02-27-07, 05:50 PM | I'm curious as what makes the erudite so outstanding that it needs 3,000 words for an expanded classes treatment.A 1300 word alternate class ability that I think is going to get cut from the article and reworked as its own article. And because it was added at the last minute it hasn't been tested to the level I would like. Writing articles is always a fun game of give and take. But I still have some testers playing around with it so we shall see. Sweeeet. Though I'm getting a nagging, suspicious feeling that we'll see a Mind's Eye Compendium sometime in the far future...If you mean another pdf compilation when the mind's eye goes on hiatus again ... that is almost certainly true ... I tend to work in spurts and I am sure I will take another break at some point. --MJ |
| Thomar_of_Uointer02-27-07, 08:21 PM | If you mean another pdf compilation when the mind's eye goes on hiatus again ... that is almost certainly true ... I tend to work in spurts and I am sure I will take another break at some point. Well, that brings me to my second worry. Mind's Eye has been the best official psionics source, and WotC hasn't made any money off of it. Should we look forward to more psionic material in the future, or is it going to remain a shunned ruleset that happens to be in the SRD? |
| DarkTouch03-04-07, 11:09 AM | Well, that brings me to my second worry. Mind's Eye has been the best official psionics source, and WotC hasn't made any money off of it. Should we look forward to more psionic material in the future, or is it going to remain a shunned ruleset that happens to be in the SRD? I thought it was the fans of Incarnum who were now the ones who got to complain. They aren't even IN the SRD, nor do they have their own message board... and hey Secrets of Sarlona just came out. Really, I think that as long as WotC makes psionic oriented books and people buy them then there will be a market for their to be more. Capitalism and all that. You get the next generation of players who can compare the powers of psionics to Naruto or Star Wars and whatnot and there will be a demand to bill filled. |
| Kurama Youko03-04-07, 11:27 AM | I'd like to see a new prestige class that works in conjunction with the Martial Adept classes in Tomb of Battle, one that grants some manifester levels as well as adding entirely to your martial adept levels. |
| Redmoon03-04-07, 12:34 PM | Well, that brings me to my second worry. Mind's Eye has been the best official psionics source, and WotC hasn't made any money off of it. I'd be happier to buy a psionics book than any other. Now, granted, I LOVE getting free Mind's Eye articles, but, why is WOTC willing to pay people to write stuff for free? With what a success Mind's Eye is, why is it that you've already mentioned that it will go on hiatus again? It seems confusing to me that there is a demand for it, yet WOTC doesn't do something to bring in some cash. |
| Amaril03-04-07, 12:48 PM | Because then everyone would complain that WotC stopped releasing Mind's Eye articles because they realized they shouldn't give away stuff for free what they could sell instead. |
| Asadeseth03-04-07, 01:04 PM | Repeate with me Eurodite = Feet... beter way to go. In all honesty though the "number of unique" powers per day is what realy bothers me, simply doesn't feel right for psionics. |
| The Livewire03-04-07, 01:25 PM | Repeate with me Eurodite = Feet... beter way to go. In all honesty though the "number of unique" powers per day is what realy bothers me, simply doesn't feel right for psionics. Really? I like it actually. both from a tactical pov and a flavour POV. Psion- "I've trained my mind to hold an arsenal of powers. I have a variety of powers at my command, no mortal mind could hold more than my unified mind Erudites limit themselves by 'dividing' the unified whole. They compress part of that whole into this 'subconscious' limiting the number of powers their minds can hold." Erudite- "The conscious mind can only channel so many powers at once. The Psion cripples himself by trying to make his mind a unified whole. This is a falicy, the subconscious is potentially infinate, once one knows how to tap it I may only hold a fininte amount in the conscious, but I can learn, and be prepared for, anything." And, while I'm rambling. Monk- "The psychic warriors are like sprinters, expelling their qui in bursts of energy then exhausted afterwards. We of the White Wyrm Monestary are more like endurance runners. We are able to spread out qui through our body for long, consistant, results." Psychic warrior- "Monks take their full potential and let it come out slowly, like runoff from a lake. We are able to call it forth in the torrent of the waterfall, knowing that the lake will fill again." Wilder- "I don't know what you're talking about. I've always been able to have my imaginary friend get stuff for me. Though now everyone else can see him." *Manifests astral construct* "Don't ask me how Bert shows up, he just does." |
| Xaxor03-04-07, 03:05 PM | No monsters until July? That's too bad. More Mind's Eye is good though. I would like to see some more prestige classes though. |
| InkBlot03-04-07, 08:14 PM | And, while I'm rambling. Sigged. All of it. That was great. |
| Shado03-04-07, 08:38 PM | I'd like to see a new prestige class that works in conjunction with the Martial Adept classes in Tomb of Battle, one that grants some manifester levels as well as adding entirely to your martial adept levels. Seconded, Thirded. Fourth-ed... (how many votes do I get?) |
| Asadeseth03-05-07, 12:28 AM | Sory Livewire that just dosen't do it for me, it feels too much like trying to force a part of the vatican system on psionics. It just plane feels artifical. Honestly though I wouldn't mind paying more (alot) for simply HAVEING the power flat out. |
| Thomar_of_Uointer03-05-07, 12:56 AM | Sory Livewire that just dosen't do it for me, it feels too much like trying to force a part of the vatican system on psionics. It just plane feels artifical. Honestly though I wouldn't mind paying more (alot) for simply HAVEING the power flat out. How much more? Are you talking about something like 1/3 the power points per day the psion gets? Psionic powers are highly versatile compared to spells, the only reason a wizard gets a full spellbook is because there are so many spells and each one does something different. |
| InkBlot03-05-07, 12:58 AM | Sory Livewire that just dosen't do it for me, it feels too much like trying to force a part of the vatican system on psionics. Nonono, the Divine Mind is trying to force a part of the vatican system on psionics. The Erudite is trying to encorporate a part of the vancian system into psionics. Specifically the part where Wizards can afford to pick up all the neat little utility/flavor spells, while a Psion can only grab one or two if he wants to stay relevant in combat encounters. |
| Asadeseth03-05-07, 02:05 AM | say 750xp per level DC 10+2 times level of power to lern from a teacher, 1000xp per level DC 15+ 2 times level of power to lern from an iteam, one week per try. Puts it rufly on par with Psy Chur |
| Shriven03-05-07, 04:42 PM | Sory Livewire that just dosen't do it for me, it feels too much like trying to force a part of the vatican system on psionics. This is honestly the best typo I've seen in ages:) On topic- Mind's Eye! Woooo! |
| Ventilatory_Threshold03-05-07, 08:54 PM | Damn you, WotC! Why can you not let me die? I'm tired of being so cautious. I've been busting my ass trying to stay alive since January, and then they come up with something like this. |
| RavinRay03-06-07, 12:07 AM | If you mean another pdf compilation when the mind's eye goes on hiatus again ... that is almost certainly true ... And you've done it before with the Epic Insights compilation which you co-authored with Andy Collins for those prestige class epic progressions. I earnestly hope you'd give the Mind's Eye the same treatment and give it the web enhancement layout. And, as I've mentioned elsewhere, I gave the Sardior articles the same kind of makeover for in-house use. |
