| sijigs09-23-07, 11:37 PM | This may have been asked before so apologies in advance for the re-post. So 2 quetions: 1. The text for the power does not say is has to be anchored. But.. is it implied that is has to be, as per other walls? Wall of Fire doesn't either. 2. If not, and say you can generate a ecto wall mid-air... do you think it's overpowered? Any bad experience(s) with this? I'm 50/50 on this one. |

But wall of force (which is better in many ways) can be summoned mid air. And it's only one level higher, invulnerable, etc. |

And it's only one level higher, invulnerable, etc. Hm.. if I go by your assumption, I can flatten small hordes with it. Any ideas how much it would weigh then? My query was whether it needs to be anchored or not (otherwise it wouldn't work). So we're slightly digressing... ;) |
| unusualsuspect09-24-07, 01:14 AM | Wall of Ectoplasm Metacreativity (Creation) Metacreativity Metacreativity powers create objects, creatures, or some form of matter. Creatures you create usually, but not always, obey your commands. A metacreativity power draws raw ectoplasm from the Astral Plane to create an object or creature in the place the psionic character designates (subject to the limits noted above). Objects created in this fashion are as solid and durable as normal objects, despite their originally diaphanous substance. Psionic creatures created with metacreativity powers are considered constructs, not outsiders. A creature or object brought into being cannot appear inside another creature or object, nor can it appear floating in an empty space. It must arrive in an open location on a surface capable of supporting it. The creature or object must appear within the power’s range, but it does not have to remain within the range. For the purpose of psionics-magic transparency, metacreativity powers are equivalent to powers of the conjuration school (thus, creatures immune to conjuration spells are also immune to metacreativity powers). I think that answers the question? |
| Lycanthromancer09-24-07, 01:24 AM | Heh. I'm adding on an augment that allows it to be 'attached to the fabric of the plane.' :) Also, my playtesters seem to have wanted my prototype for themselves to play with, rather than actually be playtesters. (Some of them, anyway. *Psigh*) :( |
| sijigs09-24-07, 01:27 AM | I think that answers the question? Ah.. thanks very much. Damn.. I was hoping to have mid-air picnics. :D Moving on.. |
| Lycanthromancer09-24-07, 01:33 AM | What is the weight capacity for a wall 'o ectoplasm, exactly? I mean, it doesn't HAVE to be vertical, right? And you can use it as a bridge so long as one end is anchored, no? (And while we're at it, what IS the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?) |

| InkBlot09-24-07, 09:21 AM | What is the weight capacity for a wall 'o ectoplasm, exactly? I mean, it doesn't HAVE to be vertical, right? And you can use it as a bridge so long as one end is anchored, no? (And while we're at it, what IS the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?) The weight capacity isn't listed. However, it has the same hardness and hit points as wood, so I would assume it has the same weight capacity as well. Note that the wall can not be moved once it is formed. Putting too much weight on it would not make it fall, but might cause it to break (and the broken off bits apparently can move or else they wouldn't be broken off). It has to be either a sphere, a hemisphere, or a flat vertical wall. You can put it anywhere so long as there's something there to support it. So yes, you can make a bridge. It would have to be a very narrow bridge, or a very round bridge, but it would be a bridge. 40. |
| CrimsonDeath09-24-07, 02:46 PM | (and the broken off bits apparently can move or else they wouldn't be broken off). Unless, of course, the broken-off bits simply evaporate back into the Astral Plane. |
| Psionx09-24-07, 05:13 PM | What? An African or European Swallow? I don't know that... Aaaagggghhhh.... |
