War Mind question [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-13-07, 04:22 PM So I thought of this while trying to stat up my namesake (currently a gestalt Warlock 20//soulknife 10/war mind 10). I have one or two questions about Chain of Overwhelming Force.

1) I can add it onto Eldritch Blast, right? It's still an attack, still requires an attack roll. This seems a given to me.

2) What if I use a blast shape invocation to change this attack into a cone, chain, or burst? I'll assume I can no longer add chain of overwhelming force.

3) This is my main question. If I take empower/maximize spell-like ability and empower/maximize an eldritch blast that I slapped chain of overwhelming force onto, does the +10d6 from chain of overwhelming force also get empowered/maximized?

4) While on the subject of stacking empower/maximize with chain of overwhelming force, what if I slap it onto a spell or power that is a ray, but doesn't deal damage - say Ray of Enfeeblement? I can use chain of overwhelming force, right? And would I then empower/maximize the STR penalty and the damage?

If the answer to all of these is yes, I see some really powerful use for the War Mind in a gestalt blaster.

For reference, I don't plan on abusing this combo regularly if it does work. I probably won't ever actually play my namesake - it's more of a thought experiment. And within Omni's storyline, there's only one time he maximizes, empower, and chain of overwhelming forces an eldritch blast. And it's not with eldritch doom.

1) Yes, since the blast does have an attack roll.
2) If the Blast Shape gets rid of the attack roll then the trick does not work.
3) Bonus dice are never multiplied.
4) No.
