Did Psionic Invisibility get dropped?

No, it just got renamed to Cloud Mind. Which is situationally better but in general worse. (Then again, I always wondered whether Invis might not be too good for a 2nd level spell.)

Note that this is always how it should have been. Quote from psionics' original appearance:However, psionic invisibility cannot be detected by any form of magic , only a mind bar being able to prevent the power from opperating with respect to that particular creature, for this power affects minds, not light waves or similar physical manifestations.

I still wonder what happened to psionic telepathy. It's kind of silly how you're called a telepath, yet you can't actually use telepathy at all.

Mindlink for voluntary, missive for involuntary. Or the Mind's Eye article that does grant telepaths true telepathy.

Mindlink works on unwilling targets too.

Did Psionic Invisibility get dropped?

It was dropped. It's in the 3.0 PsiHB, along with some interesting powers like astral steed that didn't quite make it to 3.5e. I like it, so I brought it over as a kineticist power with a +4 augment that turns it into "psionic greater invisibility."

Cloud Mind is fine and all, but I have better things to do to people that fail a Will save & PR check.

This one.

You should read the rest of them, they're pretty good (www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070411a)

It *augments* for unwilling targets. However, I left that out since you can't do that at level 1.

Psionics doesn't do illusions.
Typically it doesn't do necromancy either, but that was 'forgotten' in Complete Psionic.

Cloud Mind is actually more user-friendly than the 2E psionic invisibility power. The old power functioned the same (block the subject's ability to perceive you) but could only be used against opened minds. So you needed to successfully attack the subject 3 times with a psionic combat mode in order to then use a power to convince him that no one is there. Having to pay maintenance costs for each target to stay invisible and having the effect vs. each target count as an active power also severly limited what you could do while invisible.

Cloud Mind covers more senses than Invisibility, including blocking the subject's ability to use powers and spells to detect you, but it only affects one subject. So it really only works when you need to hide from one being at a time. If you are interested in this effect then wait for the mass version. And even Mass Cloud Mind eventually becomes useless due to its lack of DC augmentation, although it has been pointed out that this occurs at around the character levels where even Improved Invisibility ceases to be a strong advantage.
