Return Shot [Psionic]
You can return incoming arrows, as well as crossbow bolts, spears, and other projectile or thrown weapons.

Prerequisite
Point Blank Shot, Psionic Shot, Fell Shot, base attack bonus +3

Fell Shot [Psionic]
You can strike your foe with a ranged weapon as if making a touch attack.

Prerequisite
Dex 13, Point Blank Shot, Psionic Shot, base attack bonus +5.

The prereq for fell shot is a BaB of +5 but the prereq of return shot is fell shot and a BaB of only +3...

is this a typo of the SRD or is wizards just deciding to be wierd...

Does it really matter? You can't take Return Shot until you take Fell Shot. You can't take Fell Shot until you have BAB +5. Therefore, You can't take Return Shot until you have BAB +5. Any questions?

...

Ok, thank you for treating me like an idiot.

I wasn't asking what happens, I was asking if anyone had any idea WHY it was written like this...

Most things are very sequencial in DnD, I was wondering why the prereq for a +3 BAB feat was a feat that needs +5BAB... doesn't make sense to me.

hence why i asked if it was a typo or not.

So your asking if the +3 is a typo, thinking it should be higher then +5?
I don't know the anwser but thought I might try and help clear up the question.

Similarly, the Elocater class requires +3 BAB and Spring Attack...but Spring Attack requires +4 BAB.

It's probably just weirdness, but in theory a character might get Spring Attack or Fell Shot without meeting the prerequisites (if there were some funky race or some unusual monk variant that gave it as a bonus feat, for instance).

I agree with you...it's probably possible to get one way or another to get Return Shot without filling a prereq feat like Fell Shot along the way. I'm not familiar with ranged characters too much but there are enough of these exceptions out there that it's not unheard of.

To the OP, ignore rude people. There are alot of them around the forums I've seen. Most of them hover around giving no real help, commenting on posts just to make people feel bad/stupid for posting at all. The point of this is beyond me...the good thing is there are constructive posters out there.

Ask a stupid question; get a stupid answer.

The long and short of it is this: who knows. Perhaps they left room for races/classes giving access to it earlier, or perhaps they originally had it at +3 and forgot that they updated Fell Shot. In case you don't know by now, WotC books are laden with typos.

Blunt as Fatalis was, he's right. It doesn't matter what the reason is because you need a +5 to get Fell Shot no matter how low the pre-reqs for Return Shot are.

I'll just point out that you're resurrecting a thread without adding constructive elements, and be on my way.

Being right is not a valid excuse for being a jerk.

Of course, if I keep making posts that have nothing to do with the original topic (like this one), I'll have even more reasons to apologize.

uhh... stupid questions get stupid answers.. fine.

I can deal with that. But, is there really any reason to try and make yourself seem smarter than you are?

For instance, I was wondering what the reason was. I obviously don't study the books as much as you, does that make my question stupid?

No. The fact that I ASKED the questions shows I am not stupid. I wished to learn more and not just assume that I am correct in my assumptions.

thank you for playing "How can I be a jackass today!".

cheers to those that tried to help.

Same here, from time to time.

But I tell ya what.. it lightens up some threads... :D

I would actually like all feats to have prereqs based on what they do and not feel the need to bring along all prereqs from all of the feats in the chain along with it. That would open doors to gaining feats in various ways that ignore some/all of the prereqs of that feat and then still being able to advance in part of the chain.
