10-31-07, 02:43 PM The Diamond Dragon PrC appears in Dragon Magic. It gives average BAB, good Reflex and Will saves, 8/10 manifesting advancement, bonuses to your physical ability scores, the ability to neutralize the effects of sleep and paralysis at the cost of 1 PP, and a handful of nifty dragon-based toys (breath weapon, tail, claws, wings, and frightful presnce), all at the cost of PP to activate. Ardents have the PP to power these abilities, certainly, and with practiced manifester, the 2 level ML loss won't hurt as much, but overall, meh. It's an okay class, great fluff, acceptable crunch for some characters. If you're just looking for a powerhouse/psionic gish, go with Illithid Slayer. If your character has a reason to emulate dragons, then by all means, take the class. You're not losing much. 2 powers, 2 ML, which can be made up for with feats.

11-01-07, 12:03 AM I used it with a wilder, since the class actually gave him more powers than he lost with the two manifester levels the prestige class cost him.

Lurk 9 to 12 / DD 2 and get ahold of a Schism item, and Practised Manifester.
Swift Action for Lurk Augment
Standard Action for @ML power
Schism Action for ML-3 power
DD 2 Action, attack with the PP sucking Lurk Augment, which powers all of the above.

Losing the two MLs on a Psion is 4 powers, or 3 at later levels.

Is the rest of DD, i.e. levels 3 to 10, worth 4 powers or 3 9th level powers?

If you are using Ardent:
Ardent 4 / +1 BAB 2 / then ... Slayer 10ish / Storm Disciple 4ish but not 5 / Sanctified Mind 6ish
any combo, but has Schism via the Mind's Eye article "substitute powers", and Practised Manifester,
is probably definitely better. BAB +19 and full 8's and 9's.
