Wizard or psion? I like the wizards ability to have a bunch of spells in the spellbook if you copy them from scrolls, and the scrolls themselves. But that's really it. I personally like psionics better, and they dont have to worry about spell failure or preparing spells ahead of time. But there are more spells across the many books of dnd that I could potentially get more out of wizard.

I think it partly depends on if you're looking for a single level dip, or something more substantial. Are you looking to be a Daggerspell Mage/Arcane Trickster sort of character? Or are you just looking to be a rogue with a little mysticism?

A single level dip I'd probably go with psion, because you don't have to give up the Rogue's ability to wear armor, but wizard might be nice too if you go with spells like True Strike that don't have somatic components.

If you're looking for a prestige class to combine the two aspects, Wizard is probably the way to go because of the wide variety and power of a wizard's spells. The more the spells become a defining aspect of your character, the better of you'd probably be with magic than psionics. However a single level in psion could get you into the Ebon Saint or Psibond Agent PrC. For a more dedicated Psion/Rogue PrC, there's the Shadowmind.

Really though, what are you looking for? Dip or is it going to be a defining aspect of your character?

Also, have you looked at the Lurk from Complete Psionic, Psychic Rogue (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040723b), or maybe the Psychic Assassin? (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040723d)

What I would REALLY like to do is be a cerebremancer, and get the best of both worlds. But that's too much of a level investment for me. If those type of classes were allowed in gestalt I'd be all over it, but mystic theruge-esques arent allowed in gestalt, right? I don't like the lurk. The psi-rogue actually looks pretty good, but its a 3.0 creation, isn't it?

What I want overall is RPing. I like being psychic and using the power of your own mind rather than using dusty books, bat poo, and the chicken dance. The cerebremancer would allow my genius rogue to use his natural talents as the primary storyline aspect and to use magic as more of a tool to add to his bag of tricks. But there are just too many useful spells to ignore, and no efficient way to expand known powers. There is that one telepath power that adds powers permanently to your list, but to get something like the wizard you'd have to get Mr. lvl 17 telepath to teach that power to an ardent, psy warrior, shaper, egoist, seer, nomad, kineticist; and have THEM teach you all the low lvl useful powers. Basically wizards are the better choice for what I want, but I hate them.

So you're playing Gestalt? Should've clarified that in the beginning, that changes everything. I'd probably go with psion just for the ease of play and the fact that you can manifest while wearing armor.

And no, the psychic rogue I sent you isn't 3.0. The original Psychic Rogue and Psychic Assassin were 3.0, but they got updated, and the one I sent you is 3.5.

You can always use "magic" PrCs converted to psionics. Psionic Trickster/Daggerpower Psychic, unless your not playing with transparency.

I didn't say I'm playing gestalt? My bad. It's all me and my buddy like to play, so I forget sometimes. I cannot believe I never looked at the erudite in CP before (I always hated the picture of the guy in glasses). That is almost exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I don't like is the wording under learning new powers. It says if its not on your list or the disiplines lists, it fails. Does that mean no psi warrior, ardent, or lurk powers? I could do so much with a few ardent powers... Does the limit on unique powers as limiting as it sounds? I suppose making power stones could cover some of that. And the one level of wizard can go in the rogue side, because rogues get nothing at lvl 20.

You could always make an archery/sneak attack build. Fire off Split Psionic Ray'd, Twin Power'd disintegrates with sneak attack. Horrifying. :D Also, your metamorphosis'd psicrystal can flank with you.

Are you starting at level 1?

No starting at lvl 5. I've decided to go psychic rogue//telepath. All the more power points for me. I'm gonna pick a lot of subtle powers to boost my sneakyness, and only a few offensive powers, mostly crystal shard to SA with (SOOOOO glad I found out you can do that :P ) But I have a question. Do people realize that a power has been manifested on them? It would kinda defeat the purpose if the guard realized that he has recieved a penalty to listen (from the distract power), because he would look for who did it to him (aka me), thereby making all those subtle powers basically useless.
