If he wields a whip and manifests Dissolving Weapon (You deal 4d6 points of acid damage to any creature or object you hit with a successful melee attack.) upon it and expends his focus to discharge his GREATER PSIONIC WEAPON feat to do an extra 4d6 against a heavily armored foe, what happens? To my mind the GPW does not go through but the acid damage does, but I have nothing to back this up. Does anyone know a ROW based resolution for this question? |

The issue is: You can charge your melee weapon with additional damage potential. and Your attack with a melee weapon deals an extra 2d6 points of damage. If the weapon doesn't deal damage at all, can it then deal extra damage? Most answer "yes", meaning it would be possible to deal Greater Psionic Shot damage through an Entangling Ectoplasm, for example. Either way, it's a non-issue if you're using Dissolving Weapon. Even if you interpret the words "extra" and "additional" strictly, the acid damage works as enabling base damage that you could add the extra/additional GPW damage to. Much like if you had used GPS on an Energy Ray. |
