Hey. I am trying to get this class up and running for a player who is concerned as to where to go with her current Wilder4/Ranger6 dromite character. I am leaving most of the fluff to her. The basic idea is a PRC focused on attacking certain types of creatures. One that develops new power based on their capability to "connect" to their most hated enemies. Essentially she wants a slayer, a class I don't normally allow. If you all would be willing to look over the mechanics of this class I would appreciate it.
Thanks

The Wild Heart Hunter

Class features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A scoured soldier gains no new proficiencies.

Surging enmity: Any action a WHH takes that applies a favored enemy bonus can be further enhanced using a wild surge. The surge provides an additional Favored enemy bonus equivalent to the number of manifestor levels that would ordinarily be applied to a power. All other aspects of the wild surge, including the possibility of Pyschic Enervation and the induction of appropriate surging euphoria bonuses, are adjudicated as normal for a wild surge of that power. Any dazing associated with enervation occurs immediately after the surged action as normal. As an example, a ranger5/wilder4/WHH1 can choose to boost the damage of all attacks in a full attack action against a favored enemy by up to 2 points using a +2 wild surge. After the action is completed he would suffer a 10% chance of enervation, or, if successful, gain a +1 surging euphoria bonus for 2 rounds.

Additional Favored enemy: As Ranger class feature.

+1 ML- the WHH adds one manifestor level to whatever manifesting class he possessed prior to class entry. If he has more than one such class he must pick one to apply all the new level to.

Inimical intuition: As the Dark Knowledge Archivist class feature except useable only against favored enemies, and, instead of a Knowledge skill check, a Sense Motive check is used.

Fixate: The indicated number of times per day a WHH is capable of adding a new type of favored enemy to her list by expending her focus as a full round action. To add a new type the WHH must take the full round action while within 30 feet of a member of the desired type. Following this fixating action the WHH applies a +2 bonus to Bluff, Listen, Sense Motive, Spot, and Survival checks made against creatures of this type. Additionally, he adds a +2 bonus to damage rolls against this creature type. Further, creatures of this type are now considered favored enemies for all other purposes. These bonuses last for 24 hours or until another type is fixated on.

Forced Sense Link: This power is added to powers known.

Favored Feat: the WHH becomes able to use the listed feat at will but solely against his favored enemies. If he already has this feat no additional benefit occurs.

Strength of My Enemies: This power is added to powers known.

Forced Share Pain: This power is added to powers known.

I like the concept behind the PrC but I'm not to keen on the mechanics. When I have more time I'll elaborate more. For now I'll comment on the Surging enmity ability.

Rather than having it provide an increase to the favored enemy bonus equal to the number of additonal manifester levels provided by wild surge, you may want to tie it to surging euphoria for the purposes of Bluff, Listen, Sense Motive, Spot, and Survival checks when used against a favored enermy instead.

Another suggestion I have is to put in place an ability that allows the character to apply his elude touch AC bonus vs his favored enemies when psionically focused.

I'll have more later.

Just thought of another ability. How about an ability that allows the character to add his favored enemy bonus to the saving throw DC of his powers when used against his chosen enemy?

Thanks for taking a look at it. I look forward to your full review. For the suggestions thus far...

A fine idea, I will see where I can fit it in.

OK, I am not sure what this would improve over the ability as listed. Can you elaborate?

You mean apply his Cha mod. to his armor instead of just touch armor? That might work ok. Right now the combat expertise feat is included as a pretty good defensive mechanism. To be honest I am a little more worried about the whh's ability to hit foes with the loss of BAB.
Thanks again

Its not so much as an improvement as it is a toned down and smoother ability. What you proposed is sort of "clunky" mechanically. Thats not meant to be a dig so please don't take it as such. I'm just offering an opinion.

I guess it wont work to just make a feat? As this is the only character it will be for I will ignore the prereqs so it may not be balanced for a different character.

Wild heart hunter
Benefit: Your levels in wilder and ranger stack for figuring out your bonus for wild surge, surging euphoria, and favored enemy (number of favored enemies and bonus to each). In addition count half of your levels in ranger for manifesting purposes in your wilder class and half of your levels in wilder for your ranger casting.
Your bonus from surging euphoria is doubled with respect to your favored enemies.

There we are. It seems to fit the flavor and is decently powerful. Although given the split between ranger and wilder along with having a level adjustment it may not be strong enough. ;/

The feat is pretty good, but agree that it needs more prereqs to off set its potency and to maintain game balance. Either that, or cut back on what it offers (i.e the increase in manifester and caster levels). You could easily break your feat into two or three separate ones as well.

it would likely be overpowered for general use. I did not run any numbers so I do not know.

But for this guy? He is a dromite wilder/ranger with a lot of levels in both.

Looking it over this guy at 20th level could look like this:
Dromite 1/Wilder 9/Ranger 10

This would give wilder manifesting of 14th level with wild surge (+6 instead of +3) and euphoria (+2 instead of +1) of level 19.

This would also give ranger spellcasting of level 14 and favored enemy as a 19th level ranger (1 extra).

This would also give and extra +2 from euphoria to favored enemies.

Doesnt look too bad to me, but I could be off base ;)

For several feat to grant that? No, its pretty balanced. For one feat to grant all that? Thats another story. Personally, I'd never allow it to be one feat and grant all those abilities in any of my games.
