Does the feat wild talent give you two power points?

Say you take a level in Soul knife. then your next level is in psi warrior. Would you have two power points to spend on powers?

Yes.

Though chances are you would have more power points for having a high wisdom (assuming you wanted to be an effective psi-warrior)

Im thinking of using a psiwarrior/soul knife goliath as a character. Seeing how big of a damage output i can do. :D

Soulknife is probably a bad choice for Half-Giants and Goliaths, unless your DM lets you create a mind blade sized for Large creatures.

From what I hear, it's also not that great a class to use if you're going for raw damage. What were you hoping Soulknife could contribute that would be better than more levels of Psychic Warrior?

Their extra 1d8 charge on weapons, a weapon that i can never lose, better saves, and a weapon i can changes its magical abilities as i see fit for things.

Only going into Psiwarrior for the bonus feats and the small amount of powers they can manifest.

just a note here: psychic strike only works on the mind blade. Got a +5 ubersword of super death? that's nice, it can't carry a psychic strike. personally I would suggest going pure soulknife, or maybe dipping into the prc's for it. Otherwise your mindblade will lag behind anything you could get for your character normally at that level.

Their extra 1d8 charge on weapons
With more psywar levels you can take Psionic Weapon and Greater Psionic Weapon as bonus feats. Unlike Psychic Strike, Psionic Weapon applies to any melee weapon you wield and isn't a mind-affecting effect.

a weapon that i can never lose
With an extra psywar level you can learn call weaponry, claws of the beast, or bite of the wolf

better saves
Soulknives do have better saves, but psywars have better armor, shields, and defensive buffs. I'd say it about balances out in the saving throw department. Also, psywars can get evasion and improved evasion.

With more psywar levels you can take powers like psionic keen edge or weapon of energy, to add special effects to your weapon. A great number of psywar powers directly augment your weapon. Call weaponry can be used to call whatever kind of weapon you like, from a warhammer to a greatsword to a rapier to a composite longbow.

Or if you really want to go nuts with weapon customization, then use the Soulbound Warrior (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070214a) variant of the psywar.

Wait...since when?

Anywho, yeah...psionic weapon would work better if you want something that can empower any melee weapon, and psionic shot for ranged. The difference between a psy warrior's called weapon and a soulknife? well...the knife keeps coming back, the call weaponry eventually will drain all your PP. All the psy war powers have pp costs.

I'm not saying they are weak, but that the soulknife gets it's stuff for 'free'. while the warrior has to pay pp for it. Granted, weapon of energy gives something that soulknife levels don't get: extra energy damage to your weapon. Soulknives have a specific list, which doesn't have flaming, icy, screaming, acidic, or shocking on it. The soulbow prc does have those, but only for the bow shots.

why not have psionic weapon and the soul knifes abilitie ontop of the damage that it can do. There is huge potental in this build i just have to work out the kinks in it this is why im asking a lot of questions.

If i wanted psionic powes as a bonus i would go psion. Im only going for feats and the small powers they get.

I'd suggest doing this then: go with either psionic shot or weapon.

If you're going to be melee, get psionic weapon, psychic meditation, and greater psy weapon. Up the walls might be fun to have as well.

If you're going ranged: get point blank shot, psionic shot, and greater psionic shot, as well as psy med. Also get 8 ranks of autohypnosis. Then go into the prestige class of soul bow. If you go soulbow, I'd also suggest rapid shot, manyshot, precise shot, and far shot. As well as greater manyshot. Once you hit ten in the soulbow prc, get some fighter levels for bab and some extra feats, or continue soulknife (it will be at level 15, so you should have some time to decide what to do).

For melee style: if you like the two weapon fighting aspect of the soulknife, get one of the reshaping feats from complete psionics, like dire flail mind blade, or two-bladed mind blade. Improved critical (mindblade) would be a good idea to get once you qualify for it. And like the free feat of weapon focus (mindblade) that all soulknives get, you'll be able to apply it to any form your blade can take. If you get up the walls, go for the spring attack feat chain, so that you can run along walls, stab someone, and land somewhere else...also, with up the walls, you can 'run' up a cliff side. If something is less than say, 60ft tall, you can probably run up it and land on the top as a full round action. Sure beats climbing, eh?

Ninja_Ferret, that WotC's Mind's Eye page I linked to before (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070214a) also has variant Soulknife classes and roleplaying advice for Soulknives.

The variants are:
• Talented Soulknife: Gain Hidden Talent in place of Wild Talent (IOW, gain a single power known and lose almost nothing).

• Soulknife Bonus Feats: Lose Psychic Strike, gain a fighter/psionic bonus feat and an additional bonus feat at each level you would have gained an additional Psychic Strike die.

Also, psywars can get evasion and improved evasion.Wait...since when?
Evade burst is a 3rd level psychic warrior power that grants evasion as an immediate action. It has a four-point augment that grants improved evasion as well.

The problem is i dont want to lose Psychic strike. I want that ability along with Psionic weapon. And the easyest way to do it at the level ill be starting at would be to multi class into psi warrior and gain the armor and extra hp and feats. and the powers.

Though I wish the list for Enhancment bonuses was larger >.< Other then that I dont have a problem with multi classing like this.

oh right, okay...see, I thought you meant as a class feature, not a power.
