| DMZippy10-17-07, 09:31 PM | Can a dwarf and an elf mate to make a 1/2 dwarf 1/2 elf. Not a question of should they, but is there anything that says that they cannot. |
| RobbyPants10-17-07, 10:50 PM | In the core rules, not that I know of; however, you never see any half elf-dwarf races published, so I'm not really sure what the result would be :P |
| Aleolus10-18-07, 12:41 AM | Not in the official rules, but in the Book of Erotic Fantasy, it specifically states that Dwarves can only cross with creatures known for their ability to crossbreed, which are Dragons and Outsiders. They can apparently cross with anything. Other than that, Dwarves can't cross, according to that book. Though not many people like that book much, though I can't tell why. |
| baby_kamikaize_kobold10-18-07, 06:14 PM | If you want to get technical the Derro in the MM is a breeding result of human and dwarven stock. Wouldn't humans be also counted on the universal breeder's list? I mean there are half orcs, half elves, and half fey. Why not half dwarves. |
| RavenGraygem10-18-07, 07:50 PM | I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Dark Sun's muls, which are sterile half-dwarf/half-human hybrids. But no supplement I know of has a hybrid version of a dwarf and anything else. Theoretically, it should be possible though. |
| Borris10-18-07, 08:59 PM | So it seems the only other humanoid dwarves can breed with is humans, and the resulting children are either sterile or insane. |

I mean there are half orcs, half elves, and half fey. Why not half dwarves. Well, I'm just going by the table presented in the BOEF, according to which Humans can definitely crossbreed with Celestials, Dragons, Dryads, Elves, Fiends, Giants, Half-Elves and Half-Orcs, Merfolk/Tritons, Nymphs, Ogres, Orcs, Satyrs, and Sprites. They also might be able to crossbreed with Centaurs. While Dwarves can only breed with other Dwarves, Celestials, Dragons, Dryads, Fiends, Nymphs and Sprites. They also might be able to breed with Giants. |
| baby_kamikaize_kobold10-19-07, 03:41 PM | heh heh... giant dwarf. kind of an oxymoron don't ya think :) |
| InkBlot10-21-07, 01:03 PM | No worse than jumbo shrimp. Muls are awesome. They have the proportions of a dwarf, but the height of a human. They're solid walls of meat. Of course, they have a small level adjustment. |
| Aleolus10-21-07, 01:18 PM | The one I like is the Dwarf/Sprite. Now what adjustments would you use for that, I wonder? Or a Dwarf/Nymph, for that matter. |
| jeff_crippen10-21-07, 02:01 PM | According to the Book of Erotic Fantasy which talks about what races can crossbreed. dwarves can only cross breed with Celestial, dragon, dryad, fiend, nymph, and sprite and possibly with magical aid they can breed with giants and satyr. NOW I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE GONNA SAY BUT IT IS D&D AND YOU CAN MAKE ANY KINDA RACE YOU WANT. TRUE BUT YOU ALSO NEED TO READ UP ON THE TWO RACES YOU WANNA CROSS BREED AND SEE IF THEY ARE COMPATIBLE. |
| lord_xarallon10-21-07, 05:41 PM | Can a dwarf and an elf mate to make a 1/2 dwarf 1/2 elf. Not a question of should they, but is there anything that says that they cannot. There is many attempts at these boards to make a dwarf cross breed, just use the search engine and you will find them. |

| Roam710-26-07, 05:12 PM | If your DM is fine with it, go ahead, but it'll be up to him to determine it's abilities and whatnot. |
| Tequila_Sunrise10-26-07, 05:52 PM | Are you the DM or a player? Hypothetically, anything is possible in a fantasy world, regardless of what any book says. The question is, is the DM willing to take the time, energy and creativity to make it happen? |
| Jetstream10-27-07, 12:07 AM | Can a dwarf and an elf mate to make a 1/2 dwarf 1/2 elf. Not a question of should they, but is there anything that says that they cannot. My theory is that once, in times long past, a Dwarf and Elf fell in love and wed, eventually bearing a child. The universe was so offended that the offspring became the first Kender. :D |
| Aleolus10-27-07, 12:50 AM | And that Kender was named Tasslehoff Burrfoot! (Obviously, Kender live for a very long time :P.) |
| Borris10-28-07, 02:25 AM | Apparently, both kenders and dwarves apparently were once gnomes in the DragonLance setting. But then, a while later, gnomes-turned-dwarves and regular gnomes bred together and produced the gully dwarves; the stupidest and ugliest humanoid race on Krynn. So, dwarves can breed with other humanoid races in rare circumstances, but the results is either: a) sterile; b) insane; or c) incredibly dumb and ugly. Better stick with their own race. |

I guess you didn't read mongoose publishing book called "Crossbreeding" which allows me to crossbreed anything with anything else. Even without that book I still would do it anyway, but it gives better guidelines about doing it. Umm this "Crossbreeding" is not sexual intercourse resulting in offspring it is the magical amalgamation of two or more creatures of different races no sex involved and not natural though I can agree with your notion due to the fact crossbreeds created in such a manner can procreate if a suitable mate is available (a second creation of opposite sex or the creature was also based off of a creature that procreates asexually) but to the point I think he was asking for a truebreeding race not created by magical means, |
| happy_fuzzy10-29-07, 09:29 PM | dwarf+elf=human lol ^_^ |
