| ArochanoX04-01-08, 02:30 AM | Yes. The topic is: what would a creature with powerful build and slight build look like? Slight build: You're considered one size category smaller when it is beneficial. (For opposed checks only.) And when sqeezing through small cracks. Basically a +4 size bonus on hide and some bonus on escape artist checks. Powerful build: Your're considered one size category larger when it is beneficial. (For opposed checks only.) Basically +4 bonus on grapple. And an ability to use weapons one size category larger. We slack these two on a medium creature and some strenght and dexterity bonus and we should have a LA +1 race. But what does it look like??? |
| M-bark04-01-08, 08:58 AM | A thin but tall creature who is agile and strangely wickedly strong. I actually made that into a race once, the Korphyd (in my sig), but they had the ability to shift between the two builds. |
| sonofzeal04-01-08, 08:09 PM | Changelings could make a good argument for being able to have both traits. |
| Shaggy_Shaggs04-01-08, 10:23 PM | We slack these two on a medium creature and some strenght and dexterity bonus and we should have a LA +1 race. But what does it look like??? Gollum, if he'd originally been human rather than hobbit. |
| Jaxgaret04-02-08, 01:16 AM | At first blush, my initial inclination was to say that you could not make a race with both Slight Build and Poweful Build. But I suppose they could simply be thin and powerfully built. |
| ArochanoX04-02-08, 06:06 AM | Does it have to be slim? Wouldn't that be enough that the creature was small (for a medium creature)? Like it'd stand 4-5 feet tall (which is medium) and thus making it only slightly taller than small creatures (2-4 ft tall). And then muscles. Lot's of it. |
| Bloodsoul04-02-08, 06:13 AM | So.. basically a super-dwarf? |
| ToastedAmphibian04-03-08, 04:31 PM | Its not "Short Legs" its "Slight Build" So yes, you have to be particularly thin and frail. While simultaneously being redicuously muscled. The two really dont make sense togeter unless yoru some kind of shape changer. |
| Holy_Beholder04-03-08, 06:47 PM | Or for something small and slim, but very heavy because of muscle density. Probably take a penalty to swim, but can still fit through small cracks, while wielding massive weapons because they weigh 400 pounds. |
| ArochanoX04-04-08, 03:46 PM | How about Popeye? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popeye Or if a gnome was made of steel (and was slightly bigger to be medium sized) could it have both builds? |
| M-bark04-05-08, 08:29 AM | Popeye is a cartoon character. They ALL have Powerful Build and Sleight Build. Not to mention that his Powerful Build can become More Powerful Build if he eats spinach, and only then. But as said, the easiest and best example would be a human version of Gollum. |
| ToastedAmphibian04-06-08, 12:44 AM | But as said, the easiest and best example would be a human version of Gollum. he out grappled a hobbit.... |
| teshen04-06-08, 02:20 AM | he out grappled a hobbit....Like that's so hard with their penalty on grapple thanks to small size and the strength penalty... Actually, slight build and powerful build makes me think of some sea creatures with either no skeletons or soft bones that can move them around and yet exert a lot of force... so an aberation that's like a humaniod squid, maybe? |
| Aiden_Bautista04-06-08, 02:58 PM | Bruce Lee? |
| pigknight04-06-08, 08:02 PM | I 2nd changling. |
