A good Psion race [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-05-07, 01:41 PM Im looking for stats on a good psion race. I'm going to be a telepath, but I want to be something a bit different then just an Elan. Something unique and different. And prefered something with an Int bonus without a huge level adjustment. Could anyone offer suggestions please?

As for an Int bonus, Grey elves (from the MM) have -2 Str, +2 Dex, -2 Con, +2 Int. They'd make pretty good psions.

Edit:
You don't need to bump after 10 minutes :P That's typically reserved for when your thread leaves the first page...

06-05-07, 02:52 PM As an alternative choice, might I suggest the synad, from complete psionic? They have no intelligence bonus, but have synad multitask, which lets them do an extra partial action once per day, not to mention a bonus power point.

Deep Imaskari: +2 Int -2 Dex, medium, 30 ft., spell clutch (su), wizard, humanoid (human), underdark pg.9

Tinker Gnome: +2 Dex +2 Int -2 Str -2 Wis, small, 20 ft., special, dragonlance campaign setting pg.27

Lesser Air Genasi: +2 Dex +2 Int -2 Wis -2 Cha, medium, 30 ft., levitate (sp), fighter, humanoid (planetouched), player’s guide to faerun pg.191

Lesser Fire Genasi: +2 Int -2 Cha, medium, 30 ft., control flames (sp), fighter, humanoid (planetouched), player’s guide to faerun pg.191

Lesser Tiefling: +2 Int +2 Dex -2 Cha, medium, 30 ft., darkness (sp), rogue, humanoid (planetouched), player’s guide to faerun pg.191

Vanara: -2 Str +2 Int +2 Wis, medium, 30 ft. climb 20 ft., spirit shaman, humanoid (vanara), oriental adventures pg.15 – Note: in a 3.5 oriental adventures update found in Dragon magazine, vanara were updated to no longer have any ability score adjustments.

Venerable Dragonwrought Kobold: -4 Str +2 Dex -2 Con +3 Int +3 Wis +3 Cha, small, 30 ft., sorcerer, dragon (kobold, reptilian, dragonblood), monter manual pg.161 and races of the dragon pg. 39

You can also add the Dragonborn of Bahamut pseudo-template without level adjustment to any of the races with a bonus to int (beside the venerable dragonwrought kobold) and gain +2 con -2 dex, which stacks with your original ability adjustments. That may be helpful for a lot of these (especially for races like fire elves and gray elves).

Dragonborn: +2 Con -2 Dex, same as base creature, same as base creature, fighter and the base creatures, humanoid (dragonblood, same as base creature), races of the dragon pg.5

Other than that, you can just increase your age level and suffer the physical ability score penalties.

hahaha... Not only do I have that main list, but I have a bunch of sub-lists that I use to answer specific questions.

06-05-07, 04:38 PM Blues are goblins in the XPH with +1 LA, a bonus PP, and an intelligence bonus. Plus, they get a favored class of Psion.

However, since they are a very slight modification on a LA+0 race (goblins), I personally rule them to be LA +0.

Whisper Gnome: -2 Str +2 Dex +2 Con -2 Cha, small, 30 ft., silence 1/day (Cha 10 or better ghost sound, mage hand, message 1/day), rogue, humanoid (gnome), races of stone pg.96

A bonus to both con and dex with only penalties to str and cha along with a 30 ft move speed on a small creature makes them attractive psions.
