A possible mistake? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-06-07, 06:40 PM I was reading Monster Manual 3 and noticed something odd. The Ak'chazar and Naztharune Rakshasa are both have a level adjustment of +5. This doesnt seem right because they are CR 15 and 11 respectively. Its odd that a creature LA is less than a 1/3 its Cr. Is this a typo or is there ettra or what.:confused:

05-06-07, 06:43 PM It's not a typo. Remember that to find a creature's Effective Character Level, you must add its number of Racial Hit Dice to its Level Adjustment.

Ak'chazar have 17 HD, so its ECL is 22.
Naztharune have 11 HD, so its ECL is 16.

05-06-07, 06:49 PM Your obviously forgetting their racial HD which would raise their ECL to the roof if your concerned about using them as player races.
