What do you think if you take the modifiers of a half orc(and all the traits and such) and switched just the name to something like a human? Because I'm currently DM'ing a campaign that having a half-orc wouldn't really fit, but that "template" would.
He would be a barbaran, but the rest of the party is humans and dwarves.

In the core rulebook it said Half-orcs are hostile towards them.

I know I'm the DM, but I was just wondering...

There's certainly nothing wrong with it. I had a player once who wanted to use the Goliath race's stats but wanted to play a human, and there was never any kind of problem. This is pretty much the same level as playing a Policeman or Detective and using the Rogue class. There are some times when crunch can fit more than one type of fluff.

I always found half-orcs to be a bit lacking, as it doesn't have any out of combat usefulness other than it's darkvision, so your idea would be fine, but give a few skill bonuses or a circumstancial bonus to a save to give them more to work with. I give them both. Also think of a good reason why they would even have darkvision if your keeping that, as barbarians don't necessarily have the ability to see in the dark.
