Honestly, Tieflings look pretty far out, but ofcourse they would, they are part fiend.
So what about their counterparts the Aasimars (or some just have them as half celestials)?

What would you have them look like?

Winged Angels?
Blond gold skinned elves?
A walking question mark??

I would like to have Aasimars or half-celestials in my campaign, but honestly do not know what they should look like, so your help is very much appreciated.:D

Most of the time, aasimar look more human than their tiefling counterparts. They'll just have things like strange colored hair or eyes or skin tones. Unlike with tieflings with their fangs or goat legs or hooves or things like that. Tieflings are more customizable and funner to play in my opinion and its fun to mess around with their genetics and appearances.

They look like humans at casual glance, but when they stand before you, you see that they are something entirely else. But almost noone has an idea what they are, which is somewhat creepy.

The question was actually geared more towards what you would want them to look like, since the main argument against Aasimar is that they are just pretty humans unlike the highly custom tiefling.

Although he wasn't an Aasimar, he might as well have been; I gave one Favoured Soul gold hair, azure eyes, and a bronze tan with a fairly tall, muscular build.. just something that screamed out "heroic" (even if it's in a clichéd manner).

There's a lot of crazy **** you can do with traits that certain celestials have:

White skin (solar)
Greenish skin (planetar, trumpet archon)
Strong hands slightly like animal claws (leonal)
Slightly elongated nose and mouth (hound archon, lupinal)
Feathers on the neck mostly hidden between the hair (avoral)
Golden cats eyes (leonal)
Tourqois eyes (ghalele)
Fiery orange eyes (firre)
Bright orange hair (firre)
Goat-like horns (cervidal)
Claws (leonal, warden archon)
Rainbow-colored hair (lillend)
Growling voice (hound archon, leonal)
Hair that is constantly blown by wind (bralani)
Bird feet and hands (avoral)

To say the truth, only very few of the celestial bloodlines would result in an extremely handsome human. Devas maybe, but not many more.

Some people have used small unicorn horns on they're foreheads, and others give 'em snake-like tongues.

Aasimar have a tendency to look more human than tiefling, but that doesn't mean you won't find as much diversity among them as among tiefling, there's no rule against it. There's nothing even in the race's description that suggests that it's cannon (sp?) for aasimar to be more limited than tiefling in range of appearance, in fact the feats available suggest otherwise, and I remember seeing a description of them somewhere (I think maybe a Planescape book) that they can have all sorts of weird features.
I like aasimar and tiefling to have the full range from completely human looking to very obviously not exactly human. In most cases if I play an aasimar it will look clearly inhuman, but in some campaigns aasimar (and tiefling) that look human but just have some really subtle unusual feature about them are more appropriate. Then when my character is completely unharmed by that relatively acid or electricity spell it will come as quite a surprise to the other characters that thought the character was 100% human.

One thing that really disappoints me about 4th edition is how much tiefling have been limited in appearance, I'm hoping the same thing isn't done with the new aasimar (by whatever name they are going to choose to call them). Fortunately this change will probably be easy to ignore. It also sounds like the crunch for both in fourth edition might (at least for tiefling the crunch seems to be shaping up well) be good, even if they fluff is limiting (good otherwise but just too limiting), and fluff is easier to ignore than crunch.

I do recommend looking through some Planescape material dealing with celestials for inspiration for aasimar and half-celestials though, it's a lot more detailed than anything I've seen for 3rd edition as far as celestials go.

I gave my aasimar silver hair and a unusually intense stare.

Ok so I guess my next order of business would be...

In my upcoming campaign my players may or may not stumble onto an order of Aasimar clerics and paladins, a knighthood of sorts. The knights are not just going to walk up and say "hey were aasimars, yea my grandfather just had a thing for wings..." I will just describe what they see and if they do not ask they will not get an answer.

My question would be what in your mind would an aasimar look like if he/she were of Bralani blood. I mean the 3.5 short dwarf-elf kind.

Just as side info, yes the knighthood will have Bralani blood as a common bond, maybe even have a full-bralani as a grandmaster.
Kind of steering towards a heavier Bralani bloodline than human.

Not even quite sure how to go about that stat-wise.

I would make aasimars with bralani-ancestry make like human sized half-giants with long white hair.

It's only a name. They are not really tieflings, as eladrin are not really eladrin, genasi are not really genasi, elemental archons are no archons, and gnomes are not really gnomes. And who knows what other names will be recycled.

Interesting.

The one thing that threw me for a loop was when someone suggested an Aasimar with Hound Archon blood.

I would not know where to even begin on designing one of those.
I mean, it is one thing to have an ancestor with silver skin or yellow eyes, but a big steroid-bound red hound-man?

It is so strange it is appealing.

Bralani specific traits eh?

If I was descended from a Bralani I would love their rainbow colored eyes... but maybe that's just because I'm gay ;)

Others could be white hair, surrounded by a slight breeze, stout, elven ears, there really isn't much oddness about a bralani's appearance compared to that of say... any kind of guardinal.

Always through Bralani-bloods would make the ideal aasimar.
Not too far out there in appearance, but still have that touch of divinity.

You mean a touch of the celestial... big difference between celestials and the divine.

Ah, I hate it when I leave typos in my posts.

Well, you have a point.
Still makes a good wrathful paladin and or cleric.
