Or cant the character take a Class Level until he has enough experience to cover 3 levels (2LA and the Class Level)? How?! im asking you HOW!!!
Rerecros 07-24-07, 12:21 AM	A human with one class level and +2 LA is treated as a level 3 character for the purpose of experience. He'll typically be 2 levels behind the other players.

Most DMs do not allow players of greatly varying levels to be in the same party. If this is the result of an inherited template, the DM would probably have this character start with the rest of the party at level 3 too. This keeps everyone at the same power level. If it's an acquired template (such as lycanthropy), the player stays the same level until he catches up to his current ECL. He experiences a big ECL boost, but the lycanthrope template and other acquired templates are usually a penalty for most characters (in this case, fighters can't use armor, spellcasters can't progress their spellcasting). This is usually unbalancing and disruptive in a game, most experienced DMs are very careful with these sorts of curses or abilities. Optionally, you can use savage progressions.
