What are the best classes for vampires to take?

Monk seems kinda good, but many of the abilites are made obsolete by the undead traits.

Reaping mauler for easier pins mabey?

As a vampire you actually will probably want to stay out of combat most of the time, the low HP is an issue (and monk only hurts it more).

Sorcerer is nice, as is a Psion.

Eh? I fail to see how a vampire makes an effective sorcerer...

Besides, if you start to die, turn to mist and heal....

Because they get d12 Hit Dice but still get to blow up enemies for 1d6 damage per class level. Their damage output per round is greater than that of any other class, because they get more high-level spell slots. Thus, all vampires of equal level will be in a fight for the same number of rounds (with qualifications). It is therefore optimal to deal as much damage each round as possible.

Cleric is a very good class for a vampire to take. He can bolster himself against turning and drop mass inflict spells to both heal himself and harm his enemies.

A martial-oriented vampire can't go wrong with monk. Natural attacks pale in comparison to unarmed strike, as you only need an opposed grapple check to damage someone with it while grappling.
