Alignment question [Archive] - Wizards Community

How hard is to change your alignment from Lawful Evil to True Neutral and what would be required to do it ?

05-22-07, 07:52 PM Yes, wrong forum. What's a Player To Do is probably the best choice.

Basically, alignment is two spectrums. Law on one side, Chaos on the other, then another with Good on one side and Evil on the other.

To move your alignment down these axes, you perform actions appropriate to the direction you wish to move (or, more accurately, as you perform appropriate actions your alignment moves in that direction). So, perform more neutral, chaotic, and good acts.

Alignment is very broad and a lot of it comes under DM discretion. I have been in games where the players had to petition the DM to change their alignments (and rattle off actions made to support the claim), and in others where the DM would do it for them if he felt appropriate.

05-22-07, 07:55 PM This has never really been defined well in D&D, and it's far less defined in 3.0 than in earlier editions. But in a nutshell, the character basically needs to let go of his attachments to Law and Evil, accepting more Chaos and Good into his life and his actions. But he has to be careful not to become too committed to Chaos or Good in this process, or his alignment will drift too far, and this isn't what you seem to want.
