Angel, Astral Deva Paladin [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-09-08, 01:51 PM How would I add 5 lvls of Paladin to an Astral Deva. Also instead of a mace I want to use a longsword. The race can be found in the SRD at http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/angel.htm and I am wondering what the bonuses to rolled stats are as well as any other bonuses to make it a PC. I am also wondering if the stun ability works with any weapon other then the mace. Thanks

03-09-08, 02:25 PM An Astral Deva is an ECL 20 monster "race" (12 HD and +8 LA).

So the first level of paladin would come in at level 21. A level 5 paladin Astral Deva would be a level 25 PC.

Racial Stat modifiers would be:
+12 Str, +8 Dex, +8 Con, +8 Int, +8 Wis, +10 Cha

If you're starting from level 1, look for Savage Species book where I believe they have a 20 level progression for Astral Deva that spreads out the HDs, stat bonuses and special abilities over 20 levels.

By RAW, the stun ability only works with a mace. As a house rule, I wouldn't limit it to only mace.

03-09-08, 02:28 PM Ok i'll check out the SS at home later. We are starting at lvl 13, I didn't notice the HD. What do you belive would be better 13ecl astral deva or 13ecl half-celestial 8 paladin/1 cavalier?

The 13 astral deva means your an angel (RP wise thats friggen awesome)

The cavalier makes you better in combat and more reliable plus your not a GLARING target for evil outsiders.

I myself would go with the 13 angel but thats because I'm an SS freak

03-09-08, 04:04 PM Ok while I do agree that RP an angel is friggen awesome which is why I looked into this race in the first place, I will be the only front line combatant as the other one quit to play WoW lmao. Therefor I need the combat skills more then I need RP coolness, although I plan on playing my Half-Celestial Human as if I am an angel, and on the material planes who the heck knows the difference anyways, I'm still big, I still have wings, and I am still one bad*** mother******
