| Of_Monkeys05-30-07, 01:07 AM | I was just wondering if there were any 3.5 homages to older TSR products races? These are the ones I can recall vaugely: Birthright (a.k.a. Cerilia?) - Wait they were all human, scratch that one. Dark Sun (a.k.a. Athas) - Any 3.5 Edition mention of Muls? - Half-Giant and Thrikreen, both are in the Expanded Psionics Handbook. Dragonlance (a.k.a. Krynn) - Any 3.5 Edition mention of Kender, Irda, Minotaur, and Gully Dwarves? Greyhawk (a.k.a. Oerth) - Really it didn't have any "special" standouts as races, did it? Basic D&D (a.k.a. Mystara) - Any standouts from Basic made it to 3.5 Edition? - I loved the "creature" characters from the Creature Crucible series! Lankhmar (a.k.a. Newhon) - No standout here that I can think of. Planescape (sometimes my friends and I reffer to it as Sigil) - I think you can find some of the Factions in the Planar books in 3.5 Edition. - No "Special" races were from this setting that I can recall. Ravenloft - I found a reference to something called a Half-Vistani, what is it? Spelljammer - Any apperances by Giff, Dracons, Scro, Grommams, and the others? I am pretty much up to date on these: Al-Qadim (a.k.a. Zakhara, the Land of Fate on Toril "Forgotten Realms") - No real races..but they did have Sha'ir. (Found in the Dragon Compendium) Forgotten Realms (a.k.a. Toril) - Pretty well covered. Eberron (a.k.a. Eberron :D ) - got it covered, and enjoy it alot. Oriental Adventures (a.k.a. Kara Tur on Toril "Forgotten Realms") - Dragon Magazine #318 pretty much updates the 3rd Edition book. Also I heard that there was a 3.5 Edition homages to some of the older products...like the shapechanging blobs from Star Frontiers called Dralasite. What about the Vrusk & Yazarians or the races from the Zebulon's Guide to Frontier Space, the Humma, Ifshnits, and Osakar? Boot Hill, Gamma World, Gangbusters or Top Secret maybe? Thanks for the feedback, I would like to have some ties with the games that are gone, but not completely forgotten. |

After that book, further DragonLance books have been released by Sovereign Press under WotC license. |

| Alac Luin05-30-07, 09:50 AM | Dark Sun "The Burnt World of Athes" http://www.athas.org/ Lankhmar (not as compleat as a few others) http://lankhmar.pbwiki.com/ http://www.scrollsoflankhmar.com/ Planescape http://www.planewalker.com/index.php Spelljammer: Beyond the Moon http://www.spelljammer.org/ All found by useing Google. All exept the Lankhmar links were the top hit, and are actually the "offical" sites. |
| Artifact05-30-07, 02:34 PM | Since we're on the subject: Anyone know of any 3E conversions for the Pegataur? They first appeared in Original D&D supplements for the Known World (I think), then in the 2nd Edition Mystara setting. A pegataur is basically an elven centaur with wings. Odd but . |
| Soltares05-30-07, 03:39 PM | Greyhawk (a.k.a. Oerth) - Really it didn't have any "special" standouts as races, did it? Drow, Derro, Duergar, Grugach and Svirfneblin all started out as Greyhawk racial variants. Norkers as well, I think. I think most of them have made it into 3.x. |
| Enderlaand05-30-07, 03:43 PM | "standard" D&D and Greyhawk are the same thing. |
