Has anyone played a Varag before? Goblinoid from mm4, 3 HD +2LA.... seems like a cool race to be.
favored class is scout, these guys are fast (60ft land speed).

i'd like to play one, i'm thinkin raised by "civilized" (lives in city) hobgoblins or bugbears or something. lvl 1'd be kid varag aspiring to be an athlete..

but how would the spring attack style of combat mesh with the rest of the typical group of PCs? Has the spring attack ever been a problem for any of you?

Has anyone ever had the experience where PCs/NPCs auto assume that your Varag with INT 10 is dumb as hell and poke fun at him?

The ECL seems a tad inflated for what you are getting. Its stats makes it perfect as an alter-self target for a 3rd lv wizard (since you are getting 40ft movement, plus mobility and spring attack as bonus feats), but that pretty much seems to be it.:(

the samples both have 60ft base land speed. maybe i'm confused about the whole "if you dont eat you have 30ft land speed" thing they have. their noraml is 30, unless they eat 3x a normal human, in which they get boosted up to 40? where does the 60 come in. i'm so bummed

Scouts get an enhancment bonus to their speed based on level. Check the samples and see if they have scout levels

I've been thinking about playing one, just havn't really found a group where my Goblinoid mysticqie (Uh... I can't spell) wouldn't get in the way. They look to be a really nice race, I keep imagining a Barbarian Varag with pounce and some natual weapons tearing through the opposition.

Sounds good, if there is such a thing as hobgoblin cities in your campaign world...

Basically, if you play a scout and get advantage of "Skirmish", your role is that: a skirmisher. That means while the dwarven fighter or cleric is in melee with the foe and the spellslingers are bombing them from farther behind, you gladly runs around, delivering a great blow before retreating to safety.
The only advantages with this tactic is self-preservation while dealing massive damages. You won't provide flanking bonuses (unless your ally set an attack when you pass behind the foe), and you won't protect the spellcaster. But in the end, if you help to kill the foe quickly, that only will protect the rest of the party. :P
Take note though that a speed of 60' migth not be that useful in a tight dungeon situation. :(

I don't have my MM IV nearby, so I can't double-check the Varag INT. Note though that INT 10 is the average for most humanoids; your Varag should be as dumb as yourself! :D
