other than Grey elf?

I'm playing a wizard (obviously) and therefore I don't really want a race with LA greater than +0 though I'll take LA+1 if there are other goodies as well.

I'd rather not suck up the Con penalty of the elf unless I have no other choice, as the campaign is horror themed and I may need to run away a lot.

You could try the Lesser Plane touched. The Tiefling give a bonus to Int.

Deep Imaskari from the Underdark book also has a bonus to INT for +0 LA.

If you use the 3.5 dragon magazine update of oriental adventures, they no longer gain any int or wis bonus.

I usually have a cut and paste list of races with bonus to int +0 LA, but due to wotc's recent website reformatting, I can't seem to find it. I will try to do it from memory:

Fire Elf
Grey Elf
Sun Elf
Deep Imiriski (spelling?)
Lesser Fire Genasi
Lesser Tiefling
Lesser Air Genasi
Tinker Gnome
Venerable Dragonwrout Kobold
Character with higher age category...

I have the perfect suggestion for you! Play a Dragonborn of Bahamut Gray Elf. Dragonborn are found in Race of The Dragon. You would have +2 int -2 str, which would make you a kick-ass wizard! :)

I almost always play spellcasters, and always start middle aged. +1 to all mental, -1 to all physical.....well worth it for a caster!

There's always the Blue from XPH. (Not worth an LA +1 though. They're completely an LA 0.)

Out of curiosity, where can the Grey Elf be found in v3.5? I can't seem to find the book with that race.

monster manual in the section under elves. Keep in mind that the +2 int -2 str is IN ADDITION to the +2 dex -2 con most elves gain.

i 'm not going to suggest another race, just a tip that might be handy

u say u dont want to have any LA because u r a wizard. when it comes to races with races with LA +1 or +2 it's really good to reduce the LA by paying an XP cost at specific levels (Unearthed Arcana). off coarce u advance a little slower at the beginning but afterwards it's much easier for you than it is for a player that has the same LA as you but didn't reduce his char's LA

if your LA is +2 the hard part is up to lvl 13 and then u advance much easier
if your LA is +1 the hard part is only until u get level 5!! its really nice for the player

You know for some reason all the people in one of my gaming groups insist, or are playing it, where it is instead of the -2 con +2 dex. Is there any official statements I can bring them sense they are willfully making themselves ignorant of the rules?

It quite clearly says so in the Gray elf section "These traits are in addition to the high elf traits".

Addition, not instead or replaces.

Nope. It is +1 to all mental and -2 to all physical. (PHB page 109).

Given the OP wants a good Con score, this is not good. Unless he is playing a dragonwrought kobold, of course. Dragons do not lose physical abilities as they age :D

I know it's not a book you own, but the Sharakim (SP) from the "Races of Destiny" book are a Orc-Like race with the Human Subtype that have some nifty little abilities....and their stats are +2 Str -2 Dex +2 Int -2 Cha. Also, their favoured class is Wizard.

Wow, this is only the 3rd thread within 1 month - sure felt like 10 (probably because there are 3-4 threads with exactly this question every month)

LA 0 with an Int bonus
No ECL +int races

Just the last 2

I remember one issue of Dragon Magazine had Arcane Gnomes which were more or less regular gnomes with +2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom added to their racial traits.

an INT and CON bonus at LA+0? Sounds like a good wizard.
